Video: Mikey North on Gary's proposal to Alya

The wonderful Mikey North, who plays the equally fab Gary Windass (I'm a fan, can you tell?) was interviewed today on GMB.

Mikey was there to talk about Alya and Gary's relationship on Coronation Street. There's a clip of Gary proposing to Alya, properly this time, and he even has a ring for her.  Just after Alya accepts his proposal Sharif just walks into the room and the look on his face doesn't exactly say 'congratulations'.

And of course, Alya's one night fling with Jason Grimshaw still has to be revealed. As it's soap, of course it must, there is no other option.

Mikey talked about Deirdre's funeral on the show and said that Anne Kirkbride was such a big part of the show that she has left a hole that will be hard to fill.

Gary has been on Coronation Street for almost eight years. He's pictured above in one of his first scenes, with Rosie Webster.

He said: It's fun to play the bad boy, but the audience seems to have warmed to Gary now he's a bit nicer - it's win, win for me!"

Mikey's getting married next year and says he enjoys living his life out of the limelight.
