Who's your all-time favourite Corrie daddy?

As it's Father's Day, we'd like to hear on the blog who's your favourite all-time fave father?

While Corrie's fathers have traditionally not had a brilliant relationship with their children, with the likes of Ken Barlow, Mike Baldwin, Jack Duckworth and Stan Ogden coming to mind (although the last two developed a strong bond with others like Tyrone and Eddie Yeats), there have been others like Tyrone, Steve, Chesney and Kevin who enjoy a close relationship with their children, even though they often are apart from them in their family life.

So who's your all-time favourite dad?

  1. I say you missed Fred Elliot. Gerry Morton was probably the stellar dad of them all.

  2. Mostly, it's fathers and sons who have the problems and that's quite realistic. The 'good' dads tend to have daughters eg Steve and Amy; Tim (these days) and Faye; Kevin and his girls. My favourite father and son were Martin and David. Martin was written out because of the actor's objections to a storyline and possibly wouldn't be invited back. Martin's character might otherwise have been a strong influence in David's life.

  3. I think Tim has really stepped up to the mark with Faye and t'babby. And Jack and Tyrone were wonderful.

  4. I think David is a brilliant father to Max and Lily. How they turn out in 20 years remains to be seen. Of the classic characters, Jack and Tyrone probably had the strongest bond; families can be made. And while I can't speak to Jack and young Terry (before my time), he certainly knew how to write the scum out of his life as an adult.

  5. Although they had a very different kind of relationship as she was already an adult, Lloyd was a very caring and supportive father to Jenna. Such a shame she got written out.

  6. I would like to add Gail's father Ted to the list as he too was a steadying influence on his family particurely with David. One of my favorite scenes is Ted comforting his grandson after David dumped Tina, the only one who cared about David's pain while Gail was busy telling Tina how happy she is for Tina and Jason being a couple. It's a shame we don't see more of Ted as the family could use his common sense!

  7. Oops,I meant to say Ted comforting his grandson after David was dumped by Tina who I may add was intentionally kissing Jason in front of the Platt house.

  9. Agree vintage. Ken has done a wonderful job, Tracy and Peter are both fine upstanding citizens. Oh wait.

  10. Steve and Amy - the two of them have such rapport as actors, and they are so funny together.

After that, Kevin and Sophie when she came out. And now Tim and Faye.

Worst? I gotta go with Peter Barlow.
