Look out for Jacinta on Coronation Street tonight

Tonight on Coronation Street we'll see Steve's stag do. Lloyd and Tyrone are pictured here trying to celebrate the absent Steve's stag do – but things go amiss and they end up on a trawler in Liverpool

However, the scenes weren’t shot in the Mersey port but in Fleetwood, aboard the heritage trawler Jacinta.  Find out more about the Jacinta here.

Fleetwood Today reports that when Corrie was looking for a suitable vessel in the North West they made contact with the Jacinta Trust about using the trawler, berthed in Fleetwood’s fish dock.

Lionel Marr, chairman of the Jacinta Trust, said: “It came out of the blue but we were all excited and thought it was a bit of a coup for Jacinta, and Fleetwood. They made a short visit and decided it was just what they needed, and a few weeks later they came over to film. Altogether we’re talking about a scene lasting about three and a half minutes, yet it took around nine hours to actually film. It was quite an eye-opener, these people work very hard.”

Lionel added: “We saw the filming as it happened. They started out with three or four rehearsals, then five or six filming out-takes to make sure they got it right. You don’t realise what goes into filming a short scene, it was a wonderful experience. We helped out by doing a bit of scene-shifting, and we ended up having the three-course evening meal with the crew, in a double decker bus that was parked up nearby.”

  1. Thanks for the article!

Having been in the deep sea fishing industry for over 30 years, I was trying to see what vessel that was!
