Coronation Street actor Terence Maynard, who plays Tony Stewart, has signed up for panto this Christmas.
Terence will be starring as Abanazar in Aladdin at the Sunderland Empire. It's my local theatre. I'll deffo be going to see him. Oh yes I will, etc.
Ooh, I wonder... if Terence is starring in panto at Christmas, does that mean his contract has not been renewed at Corrie, or if he'll be taking a break to do the panto and returning to Corrie after?
Mind you, with Liz getting a new fella, Tony might soon be surplus to requirements in the Rovers Return.

Wouldn't surprise me if Terence Maynard left Corrie permanently. After Liz kicks Tony out and Tracy decides he's not the man she thought he was, he will have to leave town or die somehow.
ReplyDeleteSerious question: do any of the Corrie actors ask for a leave of absence to do panto and then return?
Corrie films another major fire on set. Tony signs for pants. You connect the headlines.
ReplyDeleteMust be leaving.
ReplyDeleteYah..leaving in a pine box I think.
ReplyDeleteI'll be sorry to see him go. I like Tony, in spite of his lousy taste in women.
ReplyDeleteI thought the same, if he is in panto later in the year then Tony is probably leaving. A real shame as he was a good character and Frosty is going to give his usual mantra that they seem to lose all the characters with potential but keep the dead wood spent characters on and on and on...........
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Corrie's contracts prohibit them from doing panto while they're on the show. So it must be ta-ra, Tony.

ReplyDeleteThey do Scott.
ReplyDeleteIs that why, for so many of them, panto is the first thing they do after leaving?
ReplyDeleteBig shame if true. He could have remained a fairly harmless rogue, wheeling and dealing but still a firm fixture. He is still Jason's Dad after all.
Agree Nikki, I think Tony should stay too, it won't be the first time ex-lovers have stayed. Plus, there aren't many "manly" men around now, in fact, can only think of Tony's son!
ReplyDeleteWhat defines a 'manly' man? Must he be heterosexual?
ReplyDeleteI should think that, given the storyline, Tony's days on the shows are numbered.
