The Sun is reporting today that Les Dennis, who plays Michael Rodwell, has had his Coronation Street contract extended.
Mr Curry Sauce tells The Sun: "It’s always a good sign when people are offered a
new contract — it shows the bosses like the way they are performing and
want to tie them down to build up the character"
This week Les Dennis tweeted in reply to fan who said how much he was enjoying having les on Corrie. Les replied saying: "Loving it too. No talk of Michael going yet."
I'm glsd he's staying on. Are you?

Why?
ReplyDeletethat's fine but please give him a backbone. Tired of his woe-is-me attitude.
ReplyDeleteI'm not happy he's staying. I think his character has morphed into an annoying moaner who brings out the worst in Gail. And if they drag on Andy playing Gavin, I will really be unhappy.
ReplyDeleteNo I'm not glad that Michael is staying if it means that the Andy\Gavin storyline will be dragged out longer! In light of news of characters,Julie,Kal,Maddie and Owen leaving, all of whom were interesting to watch at times,I find ironic and dare I say it unfair that Michael is kept on because he's linked to Gail?
ReplyDeleteSo Michael is not going to kark it anytime soon then?
ReplyDeleteYay! I love Michael! He is an fabulous character on this show. Glad Les is staying for a long time. :D

I hope it means Michael will insist that he and Gail get their own home. That would leave David & Kylie and Sarah & Bethany plus children in one house.
ReplyDeleteHe and Denis would've made a good team but oh well.
ReplyDeleteJust to add that I agree that Michael has turned from a chirpy character - and Les Dennis is not a bad actor- into a self obsessed negative wet blanket that unfortunately does bring out the worst in Gail and makes her clingy and irritating and talking in that silly voice. Unless they make him a bit more upbeat and stop him eating chips all the time whilst whinging about his heart trouble, he is going to start to become quite disikeable unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI'm quite happy. I like the character and the actor and I know they can do a lot more with him.

ReplyDeletePlease tell us when Kal was 'interesting to watch'? Jimmy Mistri is an accomplished actor beyond Weatherfield, but I seriously cannot recall a single instant when Kal was 'interesti2ng to watch'. For all I'm sorry Michael - initially so promising - has degenerated into a pusillanimous moaner, he's still immeasurably more interesting than the utterly anodyne Kal.
Presumably there is going to be an almighty showdown at some point, when Michael discovers that those dearest to him have been deceiving him for months on end? At the moment I feel as though the story is not going anywhere, it is just marking time. Unless there is some other ending to this sorry tale? Is Michael waiting for a heart transplant, or some other potentially life-saving measure? Or do we just keep trudging on and on.
ReplyDeleteOh noooooooo....more boring wimpish men to stay on...just unbearable...
ReplyDeleteYes I hav e liked him and am glad he is kept Aliv e.
ReplyDeleteGood! I am glad he is staying on for a bit. Gail and Michael make a good couple.
ReplyDeleteGreat news! Hopefully...this time....Gail will have a happy ending....
ReplyDeleteI think he has quite a dark side and a temper. He has shown a bit of it when Gail didn't turn up on time for the wedding and he had a massive sulk and strop when she told him off for eating chips after a heart operation. Maybe real Gavin was right after all, Michael isn't the Mr Nice that we are lead to believe. He was a burglar and thief which we tend to forget. I hope I'm wrong and Gail gets her happy ending and at least one normal husband - but this is soap land.......
