Sarah Platt to be new Rovers Return barmaid

Tina O'Brien and Lucy Fallon, who play Coronation Street's Sarah Platt and Bethany Platt, were interviewed on ITV's This Morning, this morning.

Tina O'Brien doesn't seem to have aged at all and I was quite impressed with both actresses during their interview this morning.

Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany, talked about how disappointed she was when she was told she hadn't been given the role of Bethany as it had gone to another actress.  Well, we know that didn't work out.  And then how happy she was that she had the role of Bethany after all.

It's a nice little interview. As is usual in these interviews, they don't give anything away, they're there to promote their storyline and the return of Sarah to Corrie. Her upcoming snog-fest with Callum was signposted, which could be a way of getting back at brother David more than having a go on Corrie's campest villain.

Tina also says that Sarah will end up being a barmaid in the Rovers and she's filmed her first scenes behind the bar.

I'm looking forward to Sarah's return, I have to admit, even if the Platt household isn't big enough for another storyline, never mind another family member.  And Kylie will be back soon too.

Watch the video here.

  1. It's bad enough that the Platts are dominating episodes so now they're going to dominate scenes in the Rovers with Sarah too?I'm surprised she isn't working for Nick in the bistro.
I wonder how soon before Sarah starts dumping drinks on punters as Tina used to do?

  2. Isn't that quite a come down after working for her Uncle in Milan. Another dead end job with more bloody scenes with the increasingly annoying Platt family! Am not looking forward to it at all!

  3. God forbid that Sarah comes back and uses her experience for a good job or business. Another barmaid? Really? That's what they have come up with?
    Wow.

  4. Barmaid? Why not finish school, surely she can't just blow that off?

  5. What a sad desperate addition. Don't need another Platt let along 2 more! What a dead end Coronation street is as there only seems to be a few options for employment near to the house you're squeezed in like sardines.. or Platts as it goes. So unreal and useless and depressing. WHY NOT GIVE THE PLATT'S THEIR OWN TV SPINOFF AND THEN THEY CAN DISAPPEAR FROM OUR CORRIE SCREENS. Enough! I am not looking forward to it at all.

  6. Why would she work at the Rovers when her brother owns the Bistro??? Makes no sense whatsoever. Where are they going to stay there certainly isn't any room at David's house. I don't know where they all sleep as it is. David, 2 kids, Gail and Michael. How many bedrooms do they have?

  7. It would make sense for them to move in with Audrey, but as we rarely see her house, that's probably not going to happen. I'm glad Sarah is back but my heart sank when I heard she's going to working at the pub. It seems like Corrie characters can only have a professional career while they're off screen. As soon as they return to Weatherfield, they're shuffled into one of the existing menial job 25 yards from their front door. They did the same with Todd. Sarah worked in fashion in Milan - couldn't she at least have been given a designing or admin job at Underworld?

If they insisted in bringing this additional member of the already over used Platt family then why not have her as Manager at the Bistro instead of hatchet faced, order barking Leanne? From great job in Milan to barmaid at a back street boozer - yeah that makes sense. Of course she will have nothing else to do but scowl and bed any bloke under 60, starting I understand with Callum, her sister in law's ex. Ho Hum.

  11. Huh, I thought after working in Milan, a fashion powerhouse, that she'd be given a spot at Underworld, not the Rovers or even Nick's. Heck, why not put her part time at Audrey's while they're at it? Sheesh.
    C in Canada.

  12. Makes. No. Sense!

I agree with just about everybody above, why isn't she working as a partner with Carla or doing something, anything, professional? If it's just a temporary thing to get out of the sardine can, okay but for the long haul, blech! Does anyone remember what industry of the Milan business?

  13. I could have done without the return of Sarah and her daughter Bethany.
From what I've read, it will be amazing if the writers are able to make this rather non-nonsensical come-back arrangement work, and prove viewers like myself wrong.

  14. Is vintgal1003 Stuart blackburn in disguise? never a negative comment - too susрicious!

  15. Nick still has his Victoria Court flat; they could move in there temporarily.

  16. Maybe something happened in Milan that damaged her reputation so badly that no one would hire her so she comes back home and tries to keep a low profile and takes a job she wouldn't normally take...
