Next week's previews for Coronation Street suggest that Carla Connor is going to get cosy with someone unlikely (I think) for her to get cosy with. It's going to be Nick.
The preview for Friday 3 April says: "When Carla has problems with her laptop, she asks Nick over to the flat
to sort it out. Nick proves hopeless at fixing Carla's laptop but they
share a bottle of wine and enjoy each other's company."
And Inside Soap magazine also ponder this possible pairing, saying: "Could this be the start of Weatherfield's hottest new romance?"
Or maybe Nick's just interested in Carla's pants? Personally I think he's too wimpish for her.
If it's a relationship that does happen, I wonder how Gail will take it and whether she'd prefer her golden-boy Nicky to be with Carla than Erica?

Carla, Carla, Carla... C'mon, why would you want another of Leanne's throwaways? You are so much better than that. Little baby Nicky Platt and his pathetic mummy get more shtoopid storylines.. yuk. I say YUK
ReplyDeleteI rather agree with Zigg - Carla needs fresh blood, not Leanne's seconds. Nick IS too wimpy for Carla, but maybe she wants someone she can control?
ReplyDeleteC in Canada
Sooo she's had Liam Connor (who Leanne had first)...Peter...even her hubby got mixed up with Leanne...I can't imagine any chemistry building between Carla and Nick because they've known each other too long.
ReplyDeleteI can't really imagine these two lasting long...but Carla is infinitely a better choice than Erika. What if Erika comes back...? Cougars fighting over Nick? Oi vey.
ReplyDeleteI think Carla would be bored with Nick after too long. She needs a man that's more challenging. He doesn't have to be a wrong'un or someone with his own demons and baggage, but the problem is, there are never any men like that on Corrie that aren't villains or feckless or wimps and if there are, they don't last very long.
ReplyDeleteWhy does Carla need anyone? A strong woman with her own business can surely function perfectly well as a singleton. It would be intriguing to hear Carla telling Michelle about her off-screen brief encounters. I suppose this storyline means more of tipsy Gail at the Bistro bar. So fed up with the Platts.
ReplyDeleteKen Barlow, Tyrone Dobbs, Kevin Webster, all are not villains, or feckless (whatever that is?) or wimps. Granted, that's not many, but it's more then none.
ReplyDeleteThose two together is just wrong, wrong, wrong! After all she's been through would Carla really do this?
ReplyDeleteSack the writers!
ReplyDeleteFrankly I don't understand what women see in him. He always has a face like he is constipated! And as for his family - ugh, Gail, David and Michael enough said. Carla deserves so much better.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm looking forward to their scenes BUT...
ReplyDeleteThere is no way Carla would want to start another relationship after everything Peter did to her and maybe that's where this storyline will go!! She has lost so much but she always picks herself up and throws herself into work. We all know she is fierce and her barriers are well and truly up most of the time but in the words of Roy Cropper "she has a heart as big as Lancashire". After everything Carla has gone through, she must be crumbling inside and all those emotions will have to come to the surface at some point.
I think it will be interesting to see how she deals with the possibility of being loved by another man again. There's no way she'll allow herself to be hurt again.
Nick is in a non-serious relationship with Erica but sooner or later one of them will want more commitment. My guess is; that will be Erica while Nick starts to fall for Carla.
Doesn't mean his feelings would be reciprocated, though.
I guess we'll see.
I must be in the minority here but I think it could prove interesting. Carla could help Nick snap out of his rut, move through his brain injury and get back to being a cut-throat businessman, just like her! They have plenty in common, outside if his being another one of Leanne's leftovers, but obviously the two women have the same taste in men.
ReplyDeleteWeren't Carla and Nick in business together years ago - and didn't they hate each other? As I recall, he exploited his relationship with Kelly Crabtree to get sensitive information and go behind Carla's back.
ReplyDeleteCorrie does so well with friends, and so horribly, of late, with romance (except Sally & Tim), why ruin 2 embedded characters? I don't mind the Erica thing because she's could easily be a non-character with a presence, like Fat Brenda, who keeps him happy and we don't have to see it. But Nick playing at Geek Squad when Craig, Alya and Sophie live on the same street, that's too much. Another contrived situation. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe Carla would let Nick touch her laptop after he once tried to steal her business. They also did the "thin line between love and hate" storyline with her and Liam already.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to see Carla happy on her own. Instead of wasting time on repetitive romantic scenes, her screen time could be used to strengthen her relationships with friends on the street and in interesting storylines related to the factory.
Please, Nick & Carla? WHY? I agree, between his face and wimpiness he is NOT the guy for Carla, and again, Leannes's leftovers or cast-asides? Boys come on, this is getting too much like the other soaps on tv...where everyone gets to sleep with everyone else...please don't do this. just make them friends and let Carla run the factory and make millions of dollars and be happy travelling....please don't saddle her with NICK!
