Brian Packham returns to Coronation Street

Actor Peter Gunn is returning to Coronation Street as Brian Packham.

Brian will return to sweep Julie Carp off her feet when actress Katy Cavanagh, who plays Julie, leaves the show later this year.

Brian, you'll remember, left Julie to head for a museum job in Wales after telling Julie he didn't want to have children.  Julie wanted to foster a child with Brian but he put a spanner in the works by lying to the Social Services and Julie realised he didn't want children after all.

What do you think about Brian returning for Julie's exit? I think it'll work.

  1. it will if he can give her what she wants, children. I always thought they were so suited to each other. I felt Dev was more of a crush with the added attraction of the children.

  2. Haррy end for Julie! Delighted that it's a nice exit, like Becky's. but i'm confused about when she's leaving. In the original blog it said late sрring, but now you've announced later this year, so which one is it?

  3. Off into the sunset is exactly what Julie Carp deserves. I love it.
They really did make a lovely couple.

  4. Yes! Absolutely. I was just thinking the other day how well suited they were for each other. Please - a happy ending :)

  5. I like it! I hope he swoops in, declares his undying love and how he can't possibly live without her, make plans to adopt an army of lonely kids and drive off into the happy sunset. She deserves a great HAPPY ending.
    Sure going to miss her.

  7. I think this is great - Julie was actually in love with Brian before his deceit. I think this will be a happy ending for Julie, and the character deserves it. I'm sorry to see her go, but glad she's going out on a high note.
    C in Canada.

  8. I really like the idea. They work better as a couple. I always thought that her relationship with Dev came out of nowhere.

  9. Yes! This is exactly what I was hoping would happen. I feel like this was suggested by many here on the blog (myself included). Could it be possible the writers are listening to the people???

  10. Shan, completely agree. I've suggested the same on here, and/or on another chat site. I love these two as a couple. Match made in heaven. Perfect person to bring back, sadly, to facilitate Julie's exit.

  11. The exit storyline I was hoping for, for Julie. IF Julie HAS to leave the Street...then it should be because of Brian coming back from Wales for her..

  12. If Julie gets her happy ever after then that's fine by me. Though I do think her character will leave a big hole. You can count on one hand the likable characters these days and Julie is one of them. They tend to fixate on the nasty, bitchy kind in the land of Corrie Management these days. I'm very sad she's leaving. I wish the actress the very best.

  13. Crap. Brian was a complete, self-obsessed, plonker who never appreciated how lucky he was to be with the gorgeous Julle. She has always deserved so much better.

  14. Let them adopt Faye's baby and leave!!! Faye clearly isn't prepared to be a mother, nor should she be.

  15. A nice exit storyline for Julie - I like it. I saw Peter Gunn riding his bike along the seafront in Brighton last week - was quite surreal!
