Tinker trouble - meet Beth's famly

There was a great tweet from one of our followers last night when Coronation Street aired the arrival of the Tinker women:
If Beth's relatives look familiar, it's because they're seasoned actresses all.

Beth's mum Nancy is played by Kate Fitzgerald, who played Doreen Corkhill in Brookside.

Beth's grandma is played by Juliette Kaplan, who played Pearl in Last of the Summer Wine.

Beth's sister Arlene, who is Sinead's mum, is played by Alison Burrows, who played Kathleen McQueen in Hollyoaks.

  1. What a bunch! While they were a good laugh, the aunty looked old enough to be Beth's mother and Beth's mother looked older than her gran whom I very much adore!

  2. Beth is Sinead's aunt so does that make Arlene Beth's sister? They all looked the same so I was confused about who was who!

  3. Humpty, good point. Yes I'll change the blog post as I had got that bit wrong.

  4. I thought there was a breath of fresh air in the casting department, with Arlene, til I read that she's been Hollyoaks.
Why all this closed shop with casting previous soap actors!?!? Even Hamish has been in 2 soaps before.
Much prefer new talent we've not seen before such as Julie, Eva, Sinead, Callum as opposed to the Sinbad & Doreen Corkill.

  5. excellent casting. They look like a riot. Can't wait for more of them and I hope they get to stay.
Who cares where they come from. It's where they go!. Go Tinkers.

  6. Yay! Keep the Tinkers, get rid of the Nazirs.

Great a new family lets give them a chance BUT the Windasses now need to go before Frosty punches his telly screen in every time I see Anna's ungrateful mardy face.

Quite like Aunty and Mum but the granny needs to tone it down. Being rude and unpleasant is not funny. Nobody likes an old bag.

  9. Are they actually staying, or is it just a visit for the wedding?

  10. Don't think they're staying, more's the pity, but perhaps a little of a good thing is better than nothing. I have a feeling they'd get on my nerves after awhile, all three of them. One, maybe.

  11. Agree..new blood and some humour is sorely needed here.

  12. A bit creepy, Sinead's Mom all over Jason with suggestive comments and rude Gran.....no wonder Sinead could be kind to Chesney's Mom! Beth's Mom seems the best of the lot.

  13. Yes, let's get rid of the Windass', Armstrong's and the Nazirs (they can take Leann with them) and keep the Tinker clan. I love them from the getgo. Gran is how I remember Blanche was. Much better than Yasmeen.

  14. @frostythe snowman.

Disagree with you there - the gran is the one I like most although all seem good fun.

I'd move granny into the Tinker household and make her a permanent regular.

So funny with her abrupt rudeness, moaning and sarcasm.
