Meet the new Bethany Platt (Take Two)

Coronation Street have today unveiled their brand new Bethany Platt, as seen in this picture. She will be played by Lucy Fallon.  This is Lucy's first TV role.

Previously, the show was embroiled in awkwardness after the previous actress it cast in the role emerged as older than her casting agent had said she would be.

In coming weeks, Bethany will show up on the cobbles and be taken for drinks by Andy, who thinks she is older.  Having run away from life in Milan, Bethany's mum, Sarah, will have no choice but to follow her daughter to Weatherfield.

  1. It's great that they're giving a new actor her first break!

  2. Great casting, this Bethany actually looks like Sarah-Lou. Looking forward to her arrival.

  3. Wonder how many people are trying to look up info on her to disprove her age!?!?

  4. Wow, brilliant choice. I actually thought i was looking at Sarah Lou, she looks so much like Tina OBrien

  5. Wait...why is ANDY taking her out for drinks?

  6. Andy sees her rowing with a taxi driver and she is upset. Thinking she is older, he offers to buy her a drink.

  7. She certainly looks like a good fit. I just hope her storylines are age-appropriate.

  8. Good work Corrie, excellent casting. I too thought it was Sarah at the first glance.

..Is Andy about to become a 'ladies' man'?

  9. She even looks like Gail. Look at those cheeky smiles.

  10. So Andy who claims to love Steph is going to cheat on her with a younger Bethany thus giving Luke another reason to dislike him and the Platts in yet another feud?
That being said,I do like the new more age appropriate Bethany who eerily does resemble Gail.

  11. She's a great lookalike for Sarah-Lou. Though I've seen her birth certificate, and she's actually 44.

  12. I'm hoping they'll take this confluence of events, with Bethany running away from her mother, Sarah-Louise following her daughter, and Faye discovering she's pregnant, to explore the subject of the consequences of a young teenage pregnancy, from the various angles of before and after. Perhaps Bethany will realize what her mother had to contend with, Sarah will impart some advice to Faye, based on her experience, and Faye will see her possible future, which will help her make a difficult decision. We can only hope!

  14. Nahh I think Andy is just being kind to a woman in trouble, from his point of view. I do hope they have some interaction between Sarah and Faye at some point. It would be really stupid to ignore the fact that they have the teen pregnancy in common

  15. puleeze, Andy being kind to a woman in trouble.. first of all, she's a girl (even if Andy doesn't know it YET), and secondly, 'come for a drink'.. hah, sure. Just being kind... and guess what happened then??
That's why they're using an adult. Albeit this time, the right aged one.

  16. I wonder how old this girl is. Younger than the previous girl but definitely not the age of the character, unless it's the makeup. But she does have a good resemblance to Sarah Lou so at least casting got something right.

  17. I was trying to work out what the logo/strange symbol was on the new Bethany's jacket until I realised it was one of Gail's hands...

  18. And this actress might even grow up to look like Katie Redford

  19. nothing wrong with their choice but it is not believable at all. When Bethany left she was like 7, so David aged 4 years and she aged 10, makes no sense.
