Happy New Year to you all. I truly hope that 2015 brings you everything you wish for yourself, your family and your friends.  And so, without any further ado, here we go with the first weekly update of the new year!

After attacking Gary last week, Roy is beside himself with guilt and remorse. Gary’s discharged from hospital, covered in bruises and won’t press charges while Anna walks around with a face on shooting evils at Roy every chance she can. Both Gary and Roy are blaming themselves for what happened and although Gary hasn’t taken the matter further, Roy’s still summoned to court. I don’t understand the law so I didn’t understand then why Roy was in court, and why he’s ended up with 100 hours of community service. But, as Roy says, he’ll put his best efforts into every minute of every one of those hours, all 100 of them.

Norris discovers how to use Google Streetview on his iPad and zooms in over Coronation Street. He spots a strange white cloud outside of the Barlow house and as the Google pic was taken on the same day that Blanche died, thinks that paranormal activity has been captured (even if Blanche died in Portugal, you’ll recall).  It’s more likely the strange white cloud was Deirdre smoking in the ginnel. Anyway, paranormal in mind, Norris pops round to the Barlow’s where Amy gets wind of what Norris is up to. She does her best to scare Norris by pretending she can see nanna Blanche and is receiving messages from her. Messages such as “Norris is a nasty man,” and “Norris is a bit daft in the head”.  But then Amy takes things too far and upsets Faye, telling her she can see dead people including Faye’s real mum. When Katy storms into Barlow’s Buys to tell Tracy off for letting Amy upset Faye in this way, Amy tells her she’s receiving messages from nanna Blanche and she’s got one for Katy too. “Oh yeah?” says Katy. “What’s she saying then?” Amy replies: “She says your skirt’s too short and you wear too much make-up!” I don't know about the ghost of nanna Blanche, but the spirit is definitely there. The mother-daughter bonding scenes, odd as the pair of them are, between Tracy and Amy are brilliant to watch.

Over at Streetcars, there’s no money left in the account after Steve blows the lot on Amy’s Christmas presents and his new sports car.  Liz and Eileen confront Steve and he takes himself upstairs in the pub and breaks down and cries.

However, no funds at Streetcars means the staff can’t be paid and Michael gets evicted from his flat as he can’t afford the rent. He moves in with David while Gail is in Milan and helps out with the kids as David struggles without Kylie.  He and Eva turn up in the dodgy Dog and Gun pub looking for Kylie and hoping to bring her home. They don’t find Kylie but they do find Callum, who isn’t best pleased that David’s snooping around and threatens him to stay away.  Without Kylie, Audrey has to turn down requests from the ladies of the parish wanting their nails done. “We’re in a bit of a hiatus nail-wise,” she tells callers.

Leanne’s back at the Bistro and needs to check Gavin’s ID so she can put him on the books.  But it’s ID that Gavin hasn’t got. Well, he’s got it but it’s not his, if you follow, so he gives Leanne the real Gavin’s ID and asks to be paid in cash as he hasn’t got a bank account, or so he says.  Real or not, Steph’s fallen for Gavin-me-laddo and the pair of them have a snog on New Year’s Eve.

And finally this week, Sinead designs and creates a wedding basque for Beth to wear at her wedding to Kirk next week. But then Alya goes and steals it and takes it to a wedding fayre, hoping she can interest some buyers. Sinead thinks it’s been stolen when she can’t find it at work, so is relieved when Alya returns it, that is, until Alya points out that one of the buyers spilled red wine all over it.  Julie helps Sinead get the stains out with soda water and Sinead unpicks some of the basque bling to redo it all nicely before Aunty Beth sees it for the very first time.  “I want to get married on a boat,” muses Julie in the Rovers. “What? Like the Isle of Wight ferry?” says Kirk.

And that's just about that for this week. Remember, you can sign up to get these Corrie weekly updates by email at http://www.corrie.net/updates/weekly/subscribe.htm

Amy did make Frosty smile winding up old Norris about Blanche's ghost, pity she didnt do it for a bit longer. She is turning into a cracking little actress.

How much longer can the borefest of Kylah, David and the scary as a pot of cold custard drug dealer, David kicked in his door pretty easily when in real druggie land it would have been reinforced.

And Roy's 'real' friends have shown their true colours, Chesney and Tyrone, even Gary is contrite. Mary has behaved appallingly as has Anna who Roy stuck by and didnt judge when she acted like a ho with Phelan. I hope this is the beginning of the end for this increasingly annoying character. Izzy appeared up in the Bookies flat like a ghost herself, did the warring brassic Armstrongs fix the stairlift after all??

  2. Agree with you Frost on all fronts today. Love what the young actress is doing with Amy's character. Timing, delivery, confidence... It's all there. Keep this girl smart, don't dumb her down writers. She's got C Street pedigree and is the only person that has any control over Tracey. Give her some business savvy and we have a real, strong Street woman in the making. She could also be a killer lawyer and card shark ... At the same time :).

Mary and Anna have been disappointing to say the least. Anna should be embarrassed that Gary is her son. Gary's actions have been the catalyst for all that has gone awry at the Windarms and he very easily succumbed to his temporary "skint" conditions, enough to steal from a neighbor. Cue Alya the enabler for the next stage. Mary is just out for her own jollies. No friend there. Expected more from the character. While I hope that this is a turn around point for the character Gary, I'm kind of with Kal who advised Gary to be just the way he is - because he will slip up again soon.

  3. I say shame on these writers for trying to make Gary the victim here. Crappy writing. They've just made the Gary character more despicable and useless.
I have zero sympathy for him. Grow the hell up. Enough of this "troubled" BS. I am so not interested in him or Anna, who should be down on her knees thanking Roy for all he has put up with instead of giving him the stink eye.
This story line has just perpetuated that nice guys get screwed and losers work the system to get away with things. I am so done with the Windass clan.

  4. Turns out Tracy and Amy are a comedy team, though Tracy's brief foray into being a nicer person ended with her snide contemptuous remark to Roy on his return from court....I knew it wouldn't last! Wonderful scene with Amy, Norris and the ghost of Nana Blanche...lol

  5. Here here Zagg. Gary definitely needs to grow the hell up, or take a long one way walk.
Wahhh, wahh, wah. So tired of it.
And Anna's stink eye can follow her precious baby boy all the way away too.

  6. Granny Blanche would be proud of Amy. A chip off the old block.
Tracy and mini me. They do make a good pair. That kid Amy(real name?) is proving to be a good actor.

  7. From the start I never liked Anna & Gary, could never figure out what Owen saw in her. Wish they were going and he was staying. Agree the whole Kylie story was incredibly bad, David has thrown her out and then regretted it so often, it's boorrring. And thank goodness I record the show as I fast-forwarded through all of Callum's scenes. They should have had Becky get miraculously pregnant, be confined to bed and get Kylie to go stay with her.

  8. Nothing appealing about a spoiled brat with a nasty gob. There is nothing cute or clever about Amy.

  9. Didn't Mary try to wreck Roy's wedding a couple of years back? Anna is a dolt anyway and seeing as how she's such a pushover for loser Gary, maybe this is the storyline lead in that starts Owen's leaving her for good.
