Barbara Knox, who plays Rita Tanner in Coronation Street, has pleaded guilty to drink driving. Barbara Knox was at Crewe magistrates court today where she was fined and given a 12-month driving
ban.
Digital Spy reports that she previously denied that she committed the offence, but chose to
change her plea at today's hearing, which comes more than ten months after she was arrested in Cheshire last March.
The
81-year-old - who must pay a fine of £3,000 - was told by the judge
that her ban would almost be over had she admitted to the offence from
the outset.
She was held by police shortly after her daughter, 56-year-old Maxine Ashcroft, had been arrested for the same offence.

Well at least now she's admitted it. Drink driving is a serious offence and she deserves to be punished. Ok, she didn't hurt anybody, but she could've.
ReplyDeleteAnd she won't miss £3000 will she?
Could Anne Kirkbride's death have put things in perspective for her perhaps?
She's simply a good soul. Barbara certainly looks as though she's been through enough for a while.
ReplyDeleteBetter this than the publicity of a trial, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteI hope now Barbara at 81 gives up driving. She must be able to afford taxis or even a chauffeur. At her age she should have certainly known better.
