Corrie's Callum to stay on cobbles for another year

Sean Ward, who plays Callum Logan, has had his time on Coronation Street extended for another year.

Sean told Daily Star Sunday: “The reaction I’ve had from the public has been unbelievable. I still take public transport in Manchester and I see a lot of people double-taking me on the tram. Then I’ll forget and get paranoid and wonder if I’ve got something on my head. And then I remember, oh yeah I was on Coronation Street last night.”

Ward also revealed that Callum will "find love" with Katy Armstrong, played by Georgia May Foote.

I think Callum staying on the cobbles after Kylie has left, is an interesting twist. What does he want - Max, I wonder?

  1. Find love with Katy? We know Katy is leaving with Owen soon, so Hmmm..

  3. Great I think he has potential to have many layers to his character. Also it must mean Kylie doesn't stay with him - I'm hoping she goes to Becky's to sort herself out and then eventually reconciles things with David as they are right together.

  4. I don't think Owen and Katy are leaving together so whatever romance she has with Callum might be short and heartbreaking. I can't imagine how Callum is going to fit in for a year other than plaguing and tormenting Kylie when she comes back.

  5. Oh please no, I thought we'd seen the end of Callum. What a poorly acted, one-dimensional character he is!!!

  6. WHY is he staying on? The campest "villan" ever and pretty wooden too.

  7. Groan....does this mean Kateh stays longer on the street? Perhaps Callum manages to get her addicted to drugs, she goes away to Rehab and Owen leaves to be with her.....one can hope.

  8. Great...just what the street needs, a resident drug dealer. Blackburn needs his head examined. He keeps bringing in new people that are so NOT right for this mix of people on the street. How about some decent storylines for the current cast?
This new year needs a new producer. He is just ruining this show.

  11. Someone hand me Roy's cricket bat, please.

I hope and pray David punches this jerk's lights out. Often.

  12. God help us! What IS happening to our favourite street? Yet another slimeball character whom I thought was only brought in to give Paula Lane her maternity leave. He's also either a very poor actor or is being even more poorly directed. Perhaps as Owen going and Rob gone, they felt a replacement nasty was required. Needs Kevin to give his car a proper service and send it off to the canal.

  13. Stuart Blackburn admitted he doesn't watch the show. He also loves EXPLOSIVE stories. He so obviously does not get Coronation Street.
Please Release HIM. Let him go, we don't want him anymore!
Truest point being, the fabulous characters on the show already are being watered down. So is the quality of the stories.
Bah, humbug to just bringing in another pretty face.

  14. I think he works well as a Corrie villain, almost Jez Quigley'esque. I don't see HOW he will be integrated into plot lines though, now that Kylie has gone, especially seeing as she left with him.
As new characters go I think he's one of the best written & best acted in quite a while.

  15. I am in total agreement with the general opinion on here that Blackburn is ruining the show and longer established characters need storylines - some just need to progress such as Jason and Eva - they need their own place and a baby.
