Tyrone's house - Museum or home?

Today's news about Tyrone came as a bit of a shock, but not for the reasons you might think, the most shocking part was that Tyrone is finally redecorating his house, meaning it will finally look more like his house and less like the Duckworth's house.

For a long time the No.9 has remained in something of a timewarp, it hasn't ever really felt like the house belongs to Tyrone, all of Jack and Vera's furniture is still around, and the cladding still looks the same as it did ten years ago.

It makes sense that Tyrone would want to remember Jack and Vera, but until now it has felt like the house is a museum of dedicated to them, rather than an actual home. I hope that with the renovations to the house, it will finally stop being 'The Duckworth's house' and finally become The Dobbs house.

  1. As I remember, Molly wanted to remove the stone cladding, then changed her mond when she foudn out how much it was going to cost.

  2. I recall the cladding was going to be removed but then when someone started the project they discovered it caused too much damage underneath to take it off. Might not be a common practice, but why not paint all the cladding a new, attractive and unified colour and get a new door? That way some homage can be paid to the Duckworths because you'll still see the cladding but it will have evolved - as Tyrone and the Street should! It would also be the most cost-effective way to renovate, which would also seem prudent in the recession-ravaged locale.

  3. I wouldn't call a street with a new gym that anyone who's anyone is joining, and an up-market Bistro that just about everyone is frequently seen at, in a recession. The pub, and even the Cafe don't seem to be at a loss for steady business...in a recession, you stay at home.

  4. The wall paper is the one that really gets me...and I can not see how the Websters managed to completely change their house I.e stairs yet leave themselves no kitchen space.

  5. No need at all for a new door, the door with the lovely sash windows are original features to the house and should not be replaced with plastic monstrosities. The cladding just needs to be painted a nice cream. This little character property would fetch around £300k down south.

  6. It doesn't matter what they do, it will always be the Duckies' house to me!
