From today's Mirror - there's some great news for Coronation Street fans who want to get married on the old Coronation Street set, as it's been granted a wedding licence.
The certificate will allow non-religious marriages and civil ceremonies to be performed. The licence covers Stage One, home to indoor sets including the Rovers Return pub and Underworld.
Coronatio Street tour operators Continuum have applied for the wedding licence, says the Mirror.

I'm a big fan of Corrie but that's getting a little tacky... getting to be too much like Vegas... but then I suppose to each their own for whatever they feel will make memorable nuptials these days...
ReplyDeletehello from the West Coast of Canada.
I thought that too when I first read this Anonymous, and then I thought, well, it would be good if the new studio began to start paying for itself in more inventive ways than just guided tours and there probably IS a market for people from all over wanting to get married on the set of their favourite soap's set.
ReplyDeleteAs long as they don't start leaving their ashes on the set, like they do at football grounds - that would be too much!
ReplyDeleteIf they're applying for a marriage licence does this mean that they're now intending to extend the tours beyond the initially planned 6 months.
ReplyDeleteHardly seems worth applying for a licence if they're closing in October.
Yes, I too would like my wedding to be as dreamy and perfect as a Corrie wedding. Will they throw in the last-minute drunk/brawl/revelation for free? Getting wed there might bring me the good luck of those solid, happy marriages for which Corrie is renowned.
