Newspaper reports today suggest that Maria Connor is going to get a new fella on Coronation Street. Maria will be romanced by Luke Britton (Dean Fagan).
Dean told the Daily Star: "I'm pleased to be working with Samia.
She said to me when we found out about their romance that she's the black widow
of the ladies. I think Luke will try and mend Maria's heart."
But, says the Mirror, Maria will have to fight for Luke's attention since he is also set
to catch Carla Connor's eye in the wake of her discovering her husband Peter
Barlow's affair with Tina McIntyre.

Another merry go round of bed hopping, I thought Luke was to 'get off' with Katie. They really dont know what to do with Maria any longer do they?
ReplyDeleteCarla and Maria sharing the same man! Been there done that with Liam please give me a break! Can't the writers come up with something a little more creative! So not looking forward to this storyline at all.
ReplyDeleteThis storyline is making me uncomfortable... Im as open minded as the next person but this is so tacky. What are the writers thinking. Iv finally gained some soap respect for character Carla which is now about to be destroyed. This luke character is obviously a loose moraled BOY who again bed hops( origional) im more disapointed in the females... Katy/carla/maria. Not a brain between them, no lessons learned. These characters take one step foward then three back, come on corrie up your game with some believable interaction....
ReplyDeleteSo much for being broken hearted and writing off men. And isn't he a bit young for her? Not that that means anything on a soap. I get the feeling he's only a couple of years older than Stef and she's Katy's age, about 19?
ReplyDeleteWhy not allow Maria to meet a nice guy, perhaps also a widower with a small child. they can get married (would that not be a shock - a couple who gets married instead of shacking up). Has she not been through enough already?
ReplyDeleteHow about creating some happiness on the street?? letting a couple have a happy, satisfactory relationship? they do happen
BORING! Why couldn't we see Maria more involved onscreen with her son and even her extended family? Why not see her put effort into planning to take the helm of the salon or considering more training or something?!
ReplyDeleteExactly! You'd think that with her luck, they'd let her stay away from men for at least 6 months!

Too bad they can't write a storyline about a young single woman/mother striving to make it on her own - without requiring a man around 24/7.

YAWN! These writers need to go back to school and learn how to write something interesting instead of the same thing over and over and over and...
ReplyDeleteMaria HAD an improbable but lovely man and the only things we saw were a little sniping from Sean, a Christmas visit with his parents, and the worlds least likely breakup. For as long as they were together, we barely saw them for a drink at the Rovers. That was a total waste a very talented actor, a longterm character with well established roots, and a story about a different kind of romance.
ReplyDeleteDon't see Luke as more than a boy toy for her. She's a good mom and isn't one to play around. Blech. She should still have some money left over from husband Liam's death. Now that son Liam's a bit older, I'd like to see her get serious about getting ahead in life, maybe by buying out Audrey or doing something interesting as an independent stylist.
Yes, a good idea she should buy the salon.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, isn't Audrey now long past retirement age?
I would hate Audrey to give up the salon and begin spending her days in the pub; she's a great character and honestly, if anyone should leave it should be Maria, she's 'young enough' to move on elsewhere and begin anew and I don't find her very interesting.
ReplyDeletelooks like the writers are having a brain block concerning the involement of maria (suprise, suprise) any scraping of the barrel with this boring, one dimentional character/actor will not make me enjoy it any more. Wish corrie would focus on there many more talented watchable characters/actors.
ReplyDeleteWell Maria might not be enjoyable character or actress to you but she is to others. I would love to see Maria buy Audrey's and try and get ahead if life as appose to just settle.
ReplyDeleteAlso Carla is supposed to be getting with Luke not Maria.
I too would love to see Audrey retire from the salon & hand the keys over to Maria!! Perhaps Luke can be the catalyst for some good fortune for her at last, instead of just piling more & more heartache & misery on the poor girl's shoulders! I've loved Maria since day one & know a lot of others who do too & Samia is fantastic at playing her!!
