Who's your all time favourite Corrie male?

A couple of weeks ago, I asked you for your all time favourite Corrie female, and you can still leave your answers.

Well today I'm asking you for your all time favourite Corrie male. Just leave your comments below and it'll be interesting to find out who comes out on top for you.

I have a few favourites, with the likes of Ken, Norris, Len Fairclough, Fred Elliott and Roy close to the top. But my all-time favourite has to be good old "by 'eck" Alf Roberts. One of the stalwarts of the show, he is often underrated because he was ordinary. Well-remembered for being the corner shop owner and for his work on the council and mayor, Alf was also a Rovers regular, propping up the bar for many years with his best pal Len. Not your usual womaniser, Alf was wed three times. While we didn't see his first wife Phyllis, he married Renee in 1978 and Audrey in 1985. It was his marriage to Audrey that we all remember, with their clashing personalities and Alf being tight-fisted while Audrey was the traditional gad-about.

And of course there was his trilby hat!

And that's why Alf is my favourite!

Who's yours? Well, leave your comments below!

I did a tribute to Alf over a year ago, and you can read it here.

  1. Curly Watts. He bought a star for Raquel. Norris helped deliver his baby

  2. Keep in mind that I'm new to the Street - am currently up to July 1998. Alf's a treasure, but my favorite so far is Eddie Yates. Talk about a heart of gold. I wouldn't have minded having him as a lodger. His storyline with Hilda was wonderful. A close second is Curly Watts, another "good guy." In fact, all the best characters, IMHO, are the good ones, although Mike Baldwin gets an honorable mention for consistency.

  4. Jack Duckworth, such a chancer but he had a heart of gold and a comedy legend too.

  5. They've all been my favorites at one time and another - Len Fairclough, Ray Langton, Eddie Yeats but I think I would have to go with Jerry Booth. He was such a gentleman.

  6. I'm with Kristine - Eddie Yeats, then second Mike Baldwin.

  7. So many stars but Roy is my favourite. His character is unique in soapland I think. The scene a few months ago, when he was recalling a childhood party to Anna was first class writing and acting.

Well it has been Todd for years and years, but I hate who he has become. I'd have to say the old Todd. Followed by Craig (Rosie's ex bf Craig). Then Chesney.

  15. Mike Baldwin is number one for me. I loved the consistancy of acting and character, the way his relationships with Bet, Deidre & Alma beame supportive friendships. The scenes when Hilda was his cleaner were brilliant and he almost managed to make Ken interesting!
I am glad Len, Ray and Jerry have been mentioned as they were a great trio but equally strong apart.
Also fond of Kevin and honorable mention to Dennis Stringer a strong decent man, wasted on Janice.

  16. Many come close (in the main Alec, Curly and Mike) but number one for me is the legend that is Albert Tatlock. He looks like a live-action cartoon character and is so hilariously bad-mannered that the moment Jack Howarth trundles into a scene I have a smile on my face as I know a laugh is coming.
