Jenna Kamara to leave Coronation Street in summer

Corontion Street announced today that Krissi Bohn, who plays Jenna Kamara, will be leaving in the summer. She has been in the role for 2 years after being introduced as a physiotherapist helping Sophie Webster recover from a car accident. It was later revealed that she was the daughter of Lloyd Mullaney after he rekindeled his relationship with her mother, Mandy.

"I have enjoyed every single moment of my time on The Street," the actress said.

"Although I am disappointed not to have my contract renewed I am thankful for all the experience I've gained and look forward to whatever the future may hold."

Producer Stuart Blackburn also praised the actress, adding: "It is with great regret that we're saying goodbye to Krissi, she's a wonderful person and a great actor who has played a key role in some fantastic stories. We wish her all the very best for her future."

  1. I think it's a shame, she could have been an good character but the producers didn't seem to know what to do with her after they stripped her of her physiotherapist job. And it's always interesting for Lloyd to have something to do other than trade banter in the cab office.

  2. Unfortunately they took away her job, they took away her girlfriend, and they took away her mum. Jenna was left with nothing. Even working in the cafe hasn't really brought her into the street. Sad, but it's best to get rid of characters who no longer serve a purpose before they start getting irritating (qv Stella...).

  3. It's just what Jean Alexander, aka Hilda Ogden, said - too much sex! That's probably there are so many gay characters to fll in the sexual bits when the likes of Carla, Barlow, Leanne and Tina are on a break.

Jenna was a decent character who also, if you are into that sort of thing, ticked the woman and black character.

Why can't we have more afro-Caribbean characters instead of an increasing number of quirky Asians, starting with Dev, but now Kal, his totalitarian father and the family to come. I bet the cast Kal's sister as a rebel, a bit like Amber.

  4. I too am sorry to see Jenna go as I think she had more mileage in her and wasnt a bad actress. The curse of Sophie, anyone that gets involved with her gets the chop!

I think she should have been employed zt the gym but of course "hilariously" the space cadet Gail has to get the job so she can snoop and spy on Leanne. YAWN

  5. Has it been two years already?
To me Jenna has been one of the more easily forgettable characters, even before she's left.
Maybe being paired with Sophie did it for me; I tend to mute when she's on screen.
I wish there had been more rapport with Lloyd, but somehow Jenna to me always seemed not to relax into her scenes and I'm sorry about that, for Lloyd's sake and her own.

  6. Sad about this as I rather liked her. Shame on Corrie for bringing in too many cast members, only to concentrate on a chosen few and not give others a fair shot. Good luck to Krissi with whatever she does next.

  7. It looks like SB is on a mission to replace all the old characters introduced by the previous producer and replace them with his ideas

  8. Aside from putting her into Lloyd's family, I didn't think much of any of her storylines. I thought she was badly mismatched with Sophie and likey, it was never intended to be long term. Krissi is a good actor and she'll do well but Corrie never really knew what to do with her.

  9. She's Tina's killer ;)

  10. Funny, all of us knew exactly what to do with Jenna: get her a job at the gym! She's strong enough to have been a good foil to the not so hot Kal, and a warm addition to the always likable Lloyd. If there were too many gay romances, she could have been the happy educated single with an interesting outside life, maybe even Ken's new theatre buddy.

It seems that higher education is the kiss of death on Corrie these days. It made Amber and Todd into monsters. Ken has been floundering for years, Marcus was in the cupboard for a year until his contract was up, and Brian was turned into a buffoon. Dr. Carter, anyone? Given this history, it's no wonder they didn't know what to do with Jenna, and that's a shame. Pleasant blue collar neighborhoods are often a place young graduates go to get affordable decent housing. If you can fit 2 Asian families and 5 gay singles on one street, there ought to be a place (and stories) for one professional.

  11. It's such a shame that Craig Charles had to push to have a Black family on the show for once and this is what happened to them. They never should have put Jenna with Sophie, it completely ruined the character. I love the interaction between Jenna and Lloyd in the cab office.

  12. I'm also disappointed that Lloyd will lose his daughter and liked Jenna as a character. She was one of the few nice ones and perhaps to stay on the Street you have to be a cow?I also thought Jenna wasn'treally given a chance due to the writers having Tina in every other storyline along with the Platts,Websters and Barlows.

  13. Agree with abbyk. Jenna could have been used so much better, Krissi is a good actress, sorry they've letting her go, good luck to her.

  14. I'm only surprised Krissi didn't leave of her own accord after Mandy left. The story of Jenna and Sophie's relationship was awful and irresponsible, even upsetting the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy along the way. Recently, Jenna's done nothing much except look concerned in various storylines. I'm sorry they missed the chance to do something interesting with Jenna but tbh won't miss her. Good luck to the actress.

  15. I did not like Jenna's mom. I did not like Jenna and Sophie. I did like Jenna and Lloyd. I did like Jenna. She could have gotten her life back on track - as mentioned,., job at the gym. What a waste you stupid stupid writers...or producers...or whomever made this bad decision.

  16. She should have been Nick's therapist..not that boring Kal who is the new Stella IMO. But, the writer's as usual, couldn't put their head's together and come up with something for Jenna. It's just who's screwing who and shock murders on Corrie nowdays/

  17. You know Anonymous 16:56, that would have been a great idea. I could see Jenna getting involved with the residents in a Meaningful Way, ( rather than slinging hash in the caf) and best of all, there ( gee, hopefully) wouldn't be much chance of a love affair between Jenna and Nick, although tbh you never know do you?
Kal, sorry, just cannot take to him or to him paired with Leanne, another all wrong relationship imo anyway.

    Good. Never liked her anyway.

  19. I think the mistake was in making her Lloyd's daughter. Long-lost sons/daughter rarely, if ever, work (refer: Leanne/Stella, Adam/Mike Baldwin, and of course Michelle and her switched at birth son whose name I can't remember). It would have been less forced if Jenna was introduced as Lloyd's niece.

  20. I hope that she returns to the street in a year or so with a bit of a reboot... Maybe she's been reinstated as a physio or taken some more university courses and changed professions or something. Given some of the current storylines it's not that far fetched!

  21. Ummm...NO surprise there! She should probably have been written out when her 'mother' Mandy left...no real story line for this gal after Mandy left, unfortunately...
