  2. How on Earth did Hollyoaks win best soap? Even EastEnders is better than Hollyoaks.

  4. Yes, Roy and Hayley were carrying the soap and it shows in the awards. There seems to be nothing in the pipe line to keep up the pace once the Tina saga is over. Anna and co, maybe, but then I'm not keen on the Windarms. Leanne's love triangle - tedious in the extreme. We can't be sure how long Alison King will stay but it would be great if she became a single mum. But there has to be something else happening for the next nine months.

  5. I'm happy David Neilson won something, especially best actor. He is underrated.

  6. Wouldn't it be nice if this caused the writers to recognise that this is the kind of story/writing that wins awards: real,well-written human stories, not constant affairs, murders, explosions, etc.?

And it has the added bonus of making the fans happy.

  7. Anon 16:19, I second that!

If I could storyline, Jason will have a tough time managing the yard but finds a mentor to help him through. Nick finally sees Leanne looking elsewhere, takes charge of his rehab and struggles through proper therapy; Gail acts like a proper support instead of cackling mother hen. Leanne and Eva stay together for a while; Simon likes his aunt, esp when she takes him on outlandish adventures, 'Uncle' Jason is a strong male role model & lets him 'help' around the yard. Eva gets broody. Jake starts to walk, Izzy can't, how does she cope with something the rest of us take for granted? Steph gets a boyfriend or maybe a string of them, but Luke can't get a girl no matter what. More Street Cars banter as Steve & Lloyd now compete over healthy lifestyles post heart attack while Eileen eats biscuits, and a new hobby for Roy.

Not an affair, explosion, or anything criminal in sight and yet there are stories to tell. Just sayin'...

Yeah Corrie did well, award after award then Best Soap went to..... Hollyoaks found that a bit bizarre. But you are right that once the Orange One goes to meet her maker there is nothing in the pipeline, Gail acting the idiot in the gym, the boring Kal and Leanne saga, more tedium and angst from the unpleasant Windass family. I really hope they dont make Tony the killer as fear they will because at least he has some edge and is not dull as dishwater like so many at the moment

  11. It will be interesting to see how well coronation street does at next year's awards ceremony minus Hayley.

    I suspect not very well.

As for Hollyoaks, you obviously don't watch it. It's easily the best soap on TV.
