Anna Windass to sleep with Pat Phelan

Paparazzi pictures a couple of weeks ago showed Anna Windass and Pat Phelan leaving a budget hotel, suggesting the two of them had been in there together and up to no good.

Well, Digital Spy now reports that Anna accepts Phelan's indecent offer to free her family from his clutches when she gives in to blackmail and sleeps with him.

Phelan tells Anna that if she sleeps with him, he will honour Owen and Gary's building contract and pay them both.

Anna - played by Debbie Rush - goes through with the indecent proposal, but the Windasses are still left with a £80,000 debt they cannot pay.

Having said "Oh, GOD!" on the Twitter page, now 've read the reason, that's quite good. Presumably, the actor's contract is coming to an end. Hope not. There's a lot of bed-hopping in Corrie these days. Noticed?! It's Dynasty with whippets.

You know what - at one time Corrie was a programme that families could sit down and watch together - now its just sex sex sex. There is more to life and storylines you know writers!

  3. This is getting beyond tiresome. When the Windass story started I thought, great, the writers are finally going to show us a family under financial stress and look at the problems that money troubles can bring. But no, we go down the same old sleazy road again. This shows either a lack of imagination or a lack of life experience, or both. Time for some new storyliners, surely.

  4. Time to rethink a habit of a lifetime. The writers are really not interested are they? Is this Stuart Blackburn's idea of a joke? So tired..... I am officially done. No more Corrie for me. I feel insulted as a viewer. I feel foolish for holding Corrie up to a higher level when it comes to soaps. I felt they were above it somehow. I was sadly mistaken.
Bye one and all and thank you for this lovely site to share my thoughts on this once iconic program. Take care.

  5. OMFG..can this get any more hilarious? Surely this is meant to be a joke. Indecent Proposal? I'm not remotely interested in this anymore. Gawd awful crap..are they purposefully trying to lose viewers?
I guess there'll be another death on Corrie when Phelan is murdered but who will it be? Owen, Anna, Gary? Better yet..who would care? Not the producers obviously - they don't care as long as they beat EE.

  6. Frosty is right.
This used to be a family show, one I was proud to say was the 'only' show I would watch.

My kids grew up knowing everything stopped for C.S. They watched with me now and then and they 'knew' all the characters.

Now as adults, they stop and watch for a few minutes and I feel uncomfortable with much of what we now see.

No one says anything, my kids leave, and I'm left feeling embarrassed to have the kids think I've sunk so low as to watch the disdained 'soap opera' I always said I'd never waste time on.

EE went down the same path.
Sure they won their "best soap" awards, but look at where they're at now. They used to be watchable too, long ago.

The only thing saving C.S. is the excellence of it's actors; it's a job for them, but how many of them must be shaking their heads at the preposterous merry-go-round of it's deteriorating story lines.

I too have lost interest in watching, do so out of habit, and probably wouldn't watch at all if not for this blog.

  7. This could be such a gritty, absorbing storyline. The actor who plays Phelan is completely believable. Presumably, Anna is the next one he blackmails and she becomes his property. Unfortunately, I don't care about any of the Windass family. I don't know how that happened. At one time, Anna was everyone's ideal mum. Maybe pairing her up with Owen was the start of it. As another poster has said, Phelan will probably be murdered.

  8. You could see this one coming a mile away. And yes, I have already predicted Phelan is going to get killed. And the first time you hear someone say within earshot of someone else "I'll kill you" or "I could kill you" that's his fate sealed!

  9. And suddenly the only believable character is Sean.

  10. Lucky girl getting a decent handsome bloke like Phelan. She should count herself lucky, a real man unlike that wet wimp Owen.

  11. I've been fast forwarding through the Windass scenes for the past couple of weeks. Looks like I'll be fast forwarding for a while yet.

  12. There have been sex scenes, affairs, violence, murder, rapes, and other non-family friendly content on CS for years. At least this is something new and entertaining. Phelan is a great villian. Hope the end of the Windass/Armstrong family is near.

  13. Let's see...I'm fast-forwarding through the Peter-Tina-Carla debacle, Owen/Gary vs Phelan BS, Todd/Marcus baloney and will certainly do the same with Anna prostituting herself for the good of the family.

I think it would be great if Anna/Owen faked the 'dirty' with Pat, have the encounter on video and throw it back in his face. THAT I could understand.

  14. Oh Yes, Anna should consider herself lucky to be blackmailed into prostituting herself with a clearly maniacal psychopath. What a lucky girl.

This entire story line with Phelan is completely ridiculous. Owen steals his motorcycle because he won't pay up and then goes into business with him in a potentially financially debilitating enterprise that has Owen and Gary doing all the work/taking all the risk. Then we have Anna, who invites a threatening pervert over to her home where without a witness, she tries to talk him out of being abusive. In the process, rather than putting her arms up to defend herself when cornered, she pins her arms behind her back and sticks her breasts towards a man she considers both physically and sexually threatening. Now she's planning to get naked and expose herself in the most vulnerable way possible and thinks this twisted pervert will keep his end of the bargain? Complete garbage. Worst writing ever.

  15. Agreed Newfy Pearl I won't be watching simply because the writing is horrible and half the characters actions make no sense.

So many characters have been completely ruined: Dennis, Rita, Nick, Tina, Michelle, Eileen, Marcus, etc...

  16. This is nothing new. Corrie became a sensationalized soap opera in the 90s, and has pretty much fallen that path ever since. There have been some stories, and actors, that have elevated the show. But for the most part, it is what it is...a soap. If anything, I'm surprised by Stuart Blackburn's restraint during his first full year on Corrie. I expected
much worse than what we've gotten.

  17. I've watched every episode ! The storylines are always true to life, now with all this sordid affairs, just same as Elsie tanner having a bust up with Ena Sharples 45 years ago!

    BEST SOAP ON EARTH
