Blogger Graeme wondered why Marcus would be attracted to the unlikeable Todd.
Even without the impending departure of Charlie Condou, it doesn't see out of the realms of possibility to me. Marcus is flattered and becoming physically attracted.
Why doesn't he notice that Todd is trouble? I've been thinking about that and came to one or two conclusions over here along with a few ideas on how I see this playing out.
I'm actually enjoying the storyline even though I don't like Todd and am not meant to. I know that's sailing against the wind of disapproval for most of the readers that have commented here on this blog on this storyline but I do find it interesting and would even if Charlie Condou wasn't leaving. But that's just me.

I had forgotten Condou was leaving, if I ever knew.
ReplyDeleteCannot stand Todd Grimshaw. Slimy in the extreme. Now, he's tricking Sean Tully, who would clearly shag - sorry, mother - any male that breathes. Presumably, although I hope to be proved wrong, Condou and Grimshaw will get it on, Maria will ditch Condou, get back with Jason, never to mention Condou again, a bit like how McIntyre never mentions the wishy-washy window-cleaner who was a boyfriend, and who skipped to that London with the illegal.
When Condou DOES leave, can he take Grimshaw with him - and not just Toady Todd - Eileen and Julie, PLEASE!
Charlie Condou is one of those actors who brings the best out in everyone he works with. Maria was kind of a dishrag but when they got together, she came alive. Todd is horrible (and I don't think all that good looking) but with Marcus, he is kind of interesting. If only it were true. Too bad, because instead of playing games, Marcus, the only educated adult working in his profession, would be the natural source of contacts to get Todd back on track. I guess what they've done is easier to write and faster to run across our screens.
ReplyDeleteWishful thinking: newly single Tracy play the turnaround game on him. Then they could merrily leave. Forever.
Never saw the guy for the past few months - now he's leaving and it's a big deal? GMAB---Todd can go n'all - waste of good viewing time. I haven't watched him at all since he showed up looking like 10 miles of bad road and just as nasty.
ReplyDeleteThank you for quick update here as I can't bear to watch the actual scenes so just ffwd through them. Todd makes my skin crawl and not in a good soap story way. He's just plain nasty, slimy and well ugh!
ReplyDeleteJust like the Tina/ Peter scene's I ffwd through them too - so watching Corrie doesn't take that long these days :(
One thing that I never thought I'd EVER say is that I'd find Tracy Barlow bearable. But that's how horrible and bad these stories are imo. (I think it's a ploy by TPTB to get us to like Tracy - lol)
We're not MEANT to like all or most of these cheating affairs... we GET that! The point is, are these affairs interesting i.e. do we CARE if Marcus buckles and gives in/Todd gets his way with Marcus? Neither character is interesting enough to hold my interest and the two together, the clumpy/clumsy way in which this crush has developed is embarrassing, actually and I, too FF over it. Same with a future heart-broken Maria -- we've seen her make her own bad choices and this is yet again the same ol' story... really, really hard work to care about her being crushed yet again by a man. This journey requires way too much heavy lifting on the viewers part to try and do our own backstory as to what could possibly be behind this unbelievable plotline -- the audience needs something to work with and we have so little...no, no... I like to be shown at least a bit more as to why I should care about the emotional stakes involved. It's the writers' jobs to do that heavy lifting, not the viewers.
