Todd and Marcus - Yay or Nay?

Todd's set his sights on Marcus, but is Marcus' relationship with Maria strong enough for Marcus to deny Todd's obvious, if somewhat oily charms?

Could these two get together? Should they get together? What do you think, Coronation Street fans - Todd and Marcus - Yay or Nay?

I say Yay, only because Marcus and Maria have never worked for me.

  1. I say yay. Maria and Marcus never worked as a couple.

  2. Nay. Hating Todd back on the cobbles. That's all he's missing is a little mustache he can twiddle whilst he looks dastardly and cackles at the same time. Get rid!
It makes no sense that he would go to London and come back as a different person. And while I'm on this rant, why is he working at a cab office, is there no solicitors offices in Manchester?

Sick of Corrie big wigs thinking that as viewers we love hateful and horrible characters as there's so many of them. Please give us nice people.

  3. Part of Maria's attraction for Marcus was surely the idea of having children. If I remember rightly, that was an issue between Sean an Marcus, and contributed to their break-up. Now that she has said she doesn't want another baby at the moment Marcus appears relieved. But whether that is because he truly doesn't want a baby at the moment, or because his heart isn't really in the relationship is a mystery. I think he is susceptible to Todd's (rather questionable) charms.

  4. NAY!

Marcus and Maria were such good friends, they should have been an interesting couple. Unfortunately we really haven't seen them as one since his parents visited last Christmas. It's a shame, there was something new to write about with them, and CC is the kind of actor who lifts everyone around him.

Todd is virtually unemployed and Marcus is an established professional. Todd lives at home, Marcus is in a committed couple. Todd is horrible and Marcus is lovely. No no no no no! (so of course it will happen, grrrrr)

  5. I'd like to know what went wrong in London. Did he play similar games with his friends there, and what about his job? Maybe he was sacked due to unprofessionalism. Now that could be an interesting back story.

They haven't done much with Marcus and Maria so I'm not surprised the actor wants to try something new. Exits generally mean affairs. Todd's as good as anyone.

I never saw Marcus and Maria as being believable. I have known a couple of gay men who have befriended women deeply and who want children but never putting on a 'oh I've turned' act and having sexual relationships with them.

Since Marcus is leaving, he might as well go off with Todd. Makes more sense than continuing that silly panto with Maria.

  7. Nay Nay - simply because I cannot stand the 'new' nasty Toad (Tod). I can only hope that if they do get together it is so Toady Tod can lure Marcus back to the evil streets of London, never to return again.

  8. Not sure what a sweet, kind person like Marcus would want with a devious little schemer like Todd!

  9. Maria and Marcus very dull together; all but invisible.
Todd went away a nice bloke, returned quite differently.
Maybe the writers want to explore that fact more closely.
Charlie Condou is leaving so no surprise the writers will want to fabricate a relationship for those two.
One or the other will have to have a massive personality change to make it work; as it is, I hope he and Marcus both leave together.

  10. The writers are going to do what they like.

Since Marcus wanted a child anyway and Marcus is leaving Corrie, I hope the writers will do something like Maria getting pregnant with Marcus child so their bond of Maria and Marcus will still be there. There was love in that relationship why not leave a bit there so they can create more stories lines. It leaves the door open for Marcus to come back to Corrie.

  11. Definitely not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. It just doesn't strike me as believable that Marcus would be interested in Todd; he seems too smart to fall for his dubious "charms".

I'm getting so tired of practically every couple on Corrie being subjected to the "dirty rotten cheater" storyline. Something fresh, PLEASE!

  13. When I first heard rumors that Todd was coming back to the show, I thought it would be a good thing. Marcus would realize that he couldn't play the straight card after all and would begin to have feelings for Todd and maybe a relationship would develop. But, no - as per, the writers have to make Todd into some dirty scheming little toadie so IMO the whole 'bring back Todd' thing is a joke. I couldn't give two farts if Todd and Marcus got together now.

  14. Nay! Todd only looks at Marcus as a challenge. As others have said, Todd is devious and underhanded and hes' jsut as bad as anyone else that tries to break up a relationship on purpose, just to see if they can.

  15. I was amazed this evening when Todd brought up to Marcus the appeal of Maria having a child - basically hinting that this was the attraction.
Is Todd's memory so short that he does not remember being a father figure to Bethany - and ruining the life he had with pregnant Sarah Platt. It still gives me the creeps thinking how he slept with that male nurse in their own bed!
Glad that Eileen does not have blinders on in regard to Todd anymore. Loving Jason. <3

  16. How long is Todd staying? Has he merely been brought back just to steal Marcus and take him away? Is that why he's being so nasty? I never did like the Maria/ Marcus pairing, but I'll be very sorry to see him go, another very underused good actor.

  17. The HAD a couple that wasn't based on anything devious. Maria and Marcus! An odd couple for certain, but two of the nicest people ever on the street. Would they have stood the test of time? Was it believable? Realistic? We'll never know because their story was never explored. It got shoved into the cupboard so Izzy could have a surrogate baby 5 minutes after her miscarriage and David could terrorize Nick and Gail could be swindled out of her life's savings and Karl could burn down the Rovers and blame Sunita the slutty mom and Mary could go off the rails in a series of kitchens, all clearly plausible story lines.

Detect a note of sarcasm? Grrrrrr!

  18. Nay - there's already too many gays in the village...

  19. Todd needs to fall into a meat grinder - definitely hope he keeps the heck away from Marcus, who should be far too decent to get involved with that idiot.

  20. Heaven forbid that there be a nice couple on the street. Claire and Ashley Peacock - dull at times I'll admit, but you can't have dramarama all the time. I guess TPTB thought Ashley dying and Claire bogging off would be a good thing. It wasn't. Neither is the death of Haley Cropper IMO.

  21. Would find it totally unbelievable. What would be the charms of that waste of space Todd for the character with lovely sensibility that is Marcus?

  22. Didn't like Todd the first time round, definitely can not stand him now. He has always been slimey.

  23. Definitely! They could have great dynamic. Although poor Maria is very nice!
