Les Dennis to join Coronation Street cast
Actor and comedian Les Dennis is to join the cast of Coronation Street.
Les will start filming on Monday (Jan 27th) and will appear on screen in late March.
Les, currently touring in the Peter James play, A Perfect Murder, will play Michael Rogers, a petty criminal.
Exact storyline details are being kept under wraps, but Michael will find himself caught up in the lives of a family on the street after breaking into their house.
Les said: “I am so thrilled to be joining the cast of Coronation Street. It has always been my favourite Television programme. Mixing high drama with some of the best comedy on screen.
“I've loved it since the beginning. I grew up watching all the amazing characters in the show . I now not only have the chance of meeting them, but also working with them. It doesn't get better than that.”
Coronation Street producer Stuart Blackburn said: “Les is a fantastic performer and a real coup for Corrie. I can't wait for him to join the team.”

Something to do with the Tinker family maybe? They are moving into the street so we can maybe expect a story line for them. Petty criminal sounds about right too.
ReplyDeleteThere was a vacancy for a man around that age esp. as Dennis Tanner is going. Les Dennis could fit in well and he can do comedy, too. A straight role with some dark humour could work very well. Wonder if he burgles the Barlows and takes a shine to Deirdre ...
ReplyDeleteHeres an idea, recast of Les Battersby? Saw this mans face and he could easily be mistaken for a less washed out Bruce Jones. Perhaps Les is down on his luck and breaks into Leannes home. Not only that, but could lead into the write out of Stella - falling back in love with Les.
