Secrets of Deirdre Barlow's kitchen revealed

Wear your anorak fully zipped up for this blog post, Corrie fans.

There's a fascinating little article in House to Home magazine, which features the Barlow household as it was portrayed at The Ideal Home Show in 2011.

There are pictures of all the rooms in the Barlow house with a little write-up about the type of decoration used in each room set.

The descriptions to explain why the set has been decorated to fit the personality of each member of the Barlow bunch are great.  I love this bit about Deirdre's kitchen and her oven door: "The designer Sophie Wyatt took the hinges off the cooker to represent Deirdre's... ahem... unbalanced personality".

Sadly, no mention of Deirdre's jelly mould, though.

Have a look at it and all of the pictures here.

  1. I love The Barlows kitchen. It's identical to the one I had from MFI back in the 80s. Very stylish then!!

  2. I want one! Maybe old-fashioned, but I prefer to think of it as 'retro'. I'm waiting for the blue plastic tables and bunch of cherries motif of the 60's to come back.

  3. Much of my enjoyment of the show comes with seeing how each character has decorated their home.
I think only Hayley and Roy's place is one I wouldn't want for myself.
My husband says the houses are very small; they look cozy to me.
