I never liked Sophie and Jenna together because I care too much about both characters and they never seemed right together. Jenna's far too good for chavvy-Sophie and I'm pleased they've split up. Hopefully both of them will find happiness elsewhere.
Well, we know that Sophie's going to get a new girlfriend as actress Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie, has confirmed it.
Brooke told the Daily Star Sunday: "Things are going to get interesting for Sophie. There's a new
character coming into the show that is really going to shake things up." saying that her new girlfriend will join Corrie at Christmas.

I hope that something - ANYTHING - is planned for the character of Jenna. Otherwise I suspect she will disappear for months on end, before a brief re-appearance and a hasty departure storyline. Just like Mandy. And Ryan for that matter:(
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, Amber went the same way too...
ReplyDeleteWhy does this rather poor actress keep getting more storylinse? More yelling of the name of her new girlfriend and the annoying hair twiddling. Hate her.
ReplyDeleteI just think Jenna was miscast - she's a good actress and would have been fine if they hadn't paired her up with the gobby Sophie. For someone who's supposedly a devout Christian, she's got a long way to go in the judgment department - esp when it comes to Tim.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping she'd make a pass at Sally after harbouring a secret crush on her for months. Oh well.
I don't get who the Sophie character is supposed to appeal to. At my age,I find her extremely boring and, sorry to say it, not particularly well acted. Teenagers are watching Hollyoaks and American soaps. At least give Sophie an interesting storyline away from relationships, and jobs down the road.
ReplyDeleteI'd so love it if Jenna now took stock of her life and the events of the past few months and reinvented herself. Coming out, the end of her first gay relationship, her row with her mum, Lodi g her job etc might make her take stock and perhaps she might just go back to college and train for a decent job. For once Corrie could have a decent female role model, TPTB obviously take great pride in portraying gritty storylines but in real life a character such as Jenna will have more ambition in her than she is currently showing. Oooh, it makes me so cross that storylines such as this could be are overlooked for 'headline' grabbers played out by actors who can't deal with thee storyline (Roy and Hayley excepted of course!)
ReplyDeleteI was so happy when Jenna finally got annoyed with Sophie and told her how whiny she is. I only wish there had been a bit more of that, something that would actually make Sophie realize just how annoying she is. I don't like the what the writers have turned her into. And I don't like how all her story lines seem to revolve around her having a girlfriend. Let the girl be single for a while, give her a proper story.
ReplyDeleteSophie is such a poorly-acted role and she could disappear from the show for all I care. She has no impact except for her disgusting judgments of others but yet she never has a good look at herself. She could leave now and never be missed. Good-bye!
ReplyDeleteOh good God, so that means the actress is staying.....whatever for? Can't understand a word she says and it is either whining or shouting. Sophie and Leanne could start a club with their just-sucked-a-lemon faces.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind if Sophie left. They should keep Jenna as she is great with all the other cast members. Isn't Kal, a friend of Gary Windass to join the cast as a personal trainer? Perhaps Jenna could team up with Kal and provide massage service in his new gym.
ReplyDeleteI'm also disappointed to learn that Sophie has had her contract renewed. I cannot stand the character (nothing whatsoever to do with her sexuality). The character is a whiny, immature little madam who moves whoever is her current girlfriend into her Mom's house. Is she going to spend the rest of her life working at Dev's and sponging off her Mom? I wish even one young person on the street would try and better themselves, go to school and move off the street!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with all those who say that the character of Sophie would not be missed, for all the reasons stated above.
ReplyDeleteShe and Jenna were never right for or with one another, and Jenna always seems to be looking apprehensive to me. The character hasn't made much of an impact so far,not to me anyway.
The 'Street' is amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt's like a big cage that's trapped everyone within a 100 meter radius. When they do get sucked out of the perimeter it's either via death or they've pretty well been shamed (Paul, the window cleaner guy) or failed (Paul, Ryan, the cute blond lesbian) in some bizarre way and have to leave. Redemption back into the box can be short (Liz MacDonald) or take forever (Dennis).
Success is not an option on the 'Street,' or for that matter even viable, the meerkats being the lone exception.
Sophie seems doomed to long corner-shop life. She has no character and, by extension, is immune to the 'Street's' affects.
Oh geez, I can't wait to see what kind of person the new girlfriend will be. What kind of person would be attracted to a miserable, shouty, judgemental person like Sophie??

Ugh...I could care less if Sophie gets a new partner. The whole Jenna thing was so unbelievable, it was laughable. Again, what is wrong with these writers?
ReplyDeleteI did like her first girlfriend Sian...I wish they had kept her and got rid of Sophie. She was cute and a better actress.
