Liz McDonald gets a toy-boy - and guess who he is?

There's a Coronation Street spoiler in today's Mirror that says when Liz McDonald returns to Coronation Street she's going to be given a toy-boy - and it'll be new character Khalid, played by Jimi Mistry.

Khalid will be an ex-soldier turned personal trainer, described by show insiders, the Mirror says, as a “charming rogue who has a wandering eye”.

Mr Curry Sauce tells the Mirror that Liz and Khalid's relationship will be a "torrid fling" and says "Beverley and Jimi’s romantic plotline will be a source of immense fun for viewers".

What do you make of this, Corrie fans?  I'd love to see Liz back with Lloyd, would you?

  2. Oh why not! :))) He's not that much younger is he? 10 or 15 years and he's over 40. I guess if Peter can jump in bed with Tina, Liz can have a younger man too. Goose... gander..

  4. WTF is this? Groundhog day? Didn't they give a toyboy to Stella? That was gagworthy..this I ain't even gonna watch. Sad or what. New producer with new ideas? NOT!!!

  5. Well, it won't last five minutes, will it? It's just a supposedly blazing hot story to welcome Liz back. I certainly wouldn't want her back with Lloyd - that ship's well and truly sailed. Liz will never settle down, that's her trade mark but Lloyd's another matter. He's never yet been paired with anyone suitable. He's a decent bloke like Tyrone and should have a 'Fiz' in his life.

  6. Even though I like Liz, no, no, NO not Lloyd. He deserves something better than that. I have always thought that he and Eileen would be a good pair.

  7. Please, not with Lloyd! I guess people don't change much, and Liz will have to have a fling to fulfill the writer's need, but I sure hope it's never again with Lloyd.

  8. Lloyd and Eileen? No friggin' way. She's such an awful thing. You think Mandy was a wet blanket..she didn't have anything on the misery the Eileen brings with her. Lloyd and Julie? Maybe. Just a thought.

  10. This just sounds like some ghastly groundhog day plotline. Years ago, we used to have characters like Des Barnes and Sean Skinner propping up the bar and uttering lines like "Liz McDonald is a very attractive woman", with the producers hoping that if it was said often enough, the viewers would believe it. And if it was hard to credit then, it's becoming a bit creepy now that Liz is approaching her late 50s. Let the character age gracefully, instead of becoming some sort of desperate cougar who is inexplicably attractive to younger men. We all know how excruciating the Stella/Jason affair was - this sounds even worse:(

  11. They only reason they put Jason with Stella was to push Karl over the edge, with nothing else to lose so he would blaze up the pub. It was never intended to be anything long term.

  12. Yay! I am looking forward to Liz returning and I think this boy toy will be a fun storyline. It is funny when Steve has to deal with his mother's inappropriate pairings. Also I can't wait for Deirdre to start banging on about her long lost boy toy. lol Oh yes! This is getting interesting indeed. lol

  13. Yes, I can see Stella/Jason was a plot device - but that didn't make it palatable to watch:(

  14. Lloyd and Julie ...hmmmmm...could work. Two decent people, funny, both like kids and if Brian has to go Lloyd could be the one.

  15. Oh for the love of goodness, can't they find ANYTHING else to do with Liz?!? Let her evolve, for crying out loud!!

With the big trumpeting of Liz's return, nothing has changed, same trouser chasing old tart. Really do the present writers have so little imagination. And those that bang on about foisting the misery fest that is Eileen onto the hapless Lloyd need to be shot.

  17. Oh please not Lloyd!!He is Steve's best mate. THAT just isn't right. And I love Jimi Mistry, he does not seem like a good fit for Liz either. I think they seriously need to tone down her tartiness.
