Hayley Tamaddon is joining the cast of Coronation Street later this year, playing Steve McDonald's class mate Andrea.
The official Coronation Street website at itv.com/corrie reports that Steve will decide to go back to school after he struggles to help daughter Amy with her homework. But his friendship with fellow classmate Andrea is set to cause a stir as Michelle becomes increasingly suspicious of their companionship.
Coronation Street Producer, Stuart Blackburn, said: "I'm absolutely delighted to welcome Hayley to the show. She's a great actress who I know is going to bring plenty of drama to the famous cobbles of Weatherfield."
Hayley is best known for playing Delilah Dingle in Emmerdale. She also won Dancing on Ice in 2010.

Please let her be a character that is genuinely interested in Steve and doesn't belittle him (the complete opposite to Michelle basically!)giving him a better relationship with someone and seeing the permanent departure of Michelle from the Street.( I'm not holding my breath!)
ReplyDeletehere we go another character jumping from one soap to another. Cant Kim Marsh jump to Emmerdale - please!
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to see Steve in a relationship that is a little more believable. I never bought him with Tracy, Michelle, or even Becky (even though I liked her and they had great stories, I just didn't believe them as a couple.)
ReplyDeleteHear, hear, Jane (4 October 2013 14:52)! I actually felt some excitement at this news!
ReplyDeleteOh good, new playmate for Steve, hope this a long term pairing.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't stand her on emmerdale, or dancing on ice. This is not great news.- Micky
ReplyDeleteThat's all well and good, but how about some male hotness being added to the show. With Ryan gone, Tommy just about gone, and Rob rarely seen, all the heavy lifting in the hunky department has fallen on Jason's shoulders lately.
ReplyDeleteAnd no, Todd and Khalid ain't gonna be enough.
Good to see SOMEONE on the Street trying to better themselves through education; never expected it to be Steve but why the heck not, especially because he's very interested in maintaining his businesses. I also hope this ends up being a legitimate woman who isn't just there to give Steve a hard time. We've seen Jason morph into a lovely and genuinely good man and Lloyd is Steve's best mate so here's hoping Steve finds something more intelligent and meaningful to do outside of gurning! Interesting that we're losing the faux Hayley and gaining a real one...
ReplyDeleteYay someone on the street that is educated and someone who can act
ReplyDeleteYeah this sounds good, lets get Steve into a proper storyline instead of being Michelles gurning stooge.
ReplyDeleteYes! A new face on the street. Hopefully she's a nice person and not a mardy cow like Michelle! Michelle's dad showed up on the street and she got mad at Steve. Getting really tedious now.
ReplyDeleteI was a big fan of Hayley on Emmerdale and Dancing on Ice so, this gets the thumbs up from Me!
