From BBC News Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell has appeared at
Manchester Crown Court accused of raping a young girl.
The 48-year-old, who is charged under his real name Michael Turner, is
accused of 12 offences including five of rape.
The actor, who lives in Hale, Trafford and plays Kevin Webster in the ITV soap,
has denied all the charges.
The actor has played the role of the garage mechanic for 30 years, making him
one of Coronation Street's longest-serving cast members.
ITV has said he will not be appearing in any further episodes of the drama
pending the outcome of legal proceedings.
