Paul makes a jackass comment.
ReplyDeleteLloyd takes offence.
Lloyd tells Paul he's offended and why.
Paul realizes he's being a jerk and apologizes to everyone in earshot who may have been offended.
No need to run around the Street telling everyone Paul's a racist, no need to ignore that Lloyd's offended. That's how adults would have handled this BS; problem solved.
All those male stand-offs make it seem more like 'Smell of Testosterone Street'. Just hope Owen isn't in next week's eps!
ReplyDeleteThis is the sort of male nonsense that demonstrates why we have wars, and why we need more women in positions of authority.
ReplyDeleteThe women are hardly any better, shouting their mouths of acting all high and mighty. Examples like Anna and Leanne.
ReplyDeleteOh sorry wait they are "strong" characters. My mistake.
ReplyDeleteOooh dear. Hayley gets bad news at the doctor's? Is the beginning of Hayley's long goodbye?
ReplyDeleteCould be several hankies worse than Alma's sad end.
My husband and I have been discussing the Lloyd/Paul storyline (he's black.) First off, neither of us have ever heard the saying before. And he's off the same generation as these guys.
ReplyDeleteSecond, if he heard someone, who he considered a mate, say something like, his response would be "that's not cool" and they'd go on with things. If it's the first time he's ever heard the person say that, he wouldn't write the person off as a racist and start telling everyone he is. I find it hard to believe Lloyd wouldn't have done the same. If they wanted a racism storyline, they could have done something a bit more believable.
maybe you should all read some classic John Buchan 'the thrity nine steps' - his character Richard Hannay said,'I came home (after one of his adventures)I had a wash and felt like a white man again' - is this also racist?
ReplyDeleteNOT looking forward to this health storyline of Hayley's -- it's going to be so heart-wrenching. :( I do anticipate some knockout acting from Stephanie Cole and David Neilson though.
ReplyDeleteI'm not looking forward to it either, too close to home. I will probably switch off if it gets too much. And I agree Julie, Stephanie and David will do a superb job.
