What a nasty piece of work Anna has become lately, forcing Faye's dad out of town, because she wants Faye all to herself, not taking into account how poor Faye feels about it all.
Then when Tim is telling Faye that he has to leave, Anna pulls sour faces at him, as if its his decision to leave. I used to be on Anna's side in the argument, but I think I've changed my mind.
Anna has basically won anyway, Faye came back to No.6 of her own free will, but that's not enough for Anna, so she wants to sever the only link poor Faye has back to her blood relations. As if that's not enough, she's also decided to take her anger out on poor Roy and Sylvia in recent episodes. Not to mention her bothering Dev about Tim a few days after Sunita's death. It seems Anna thinks the world revolves around her alone these days

She's the original Anna..vile as they come..remember what she did to Joe McIntyre..refusing to pay for new kitchen cupboards..the beginning of his demise. I like her better this way than cutsie pie Anna that they were trying to turn her into.
ReplyDeleteActually, now that I think about it, you're right, she was quite chavvy when she first showed up.
ReplyDeleteI agree, she is being a complete cow lately - but I like a little nasty, she was too sweet (unrealistically so) before. But I draw the line at her picking on Roy - that's like kicking a puppy.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy watching Sylvia tell her a few home truths, though. I have a feeling Sylvia is going to do a little straight talking with a few people as she does her best to protect Roy and Hayley. Go Sylvia!
ReplyDeleteAnna has certainly lost the plot since Tim arrived on the Street. It certainly doesn't help that she's in bed (literally) with the picture of humanity that is Owen.
ReplyDeleteI think she overreacted over the Home Alone thing. The lying little brat told her dad she was going over to Anna's and when he called, told him she was there. He had no reason to disbelieve her and I think he even tried to talk to Anna but she put him off. The brat did everything she could to cover up the fact that she was by herself without a thought as to how this would affect anyone else.
ReplyDeleteAnna has reverted to the unpleasant chav that she was when she first came onto the Street. She and Owen are actually one very unpleasant couple. I suspect her rather out of character nastiness to Roy though was contrived so she can be SO SORRAH when the truth about Haley is revealed.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with "Then when Tim is telling Faye that he has to leave, Anna pulls sour faces at him, as if its his decision to leave."
ReplyDeleteI saw her face-pulling more as a warning to him not to change his mind.
I'm just praying they don't have Anna and Tim getting together as a couple - I've a feeling that's what the writers have had all along and the reason why Tim was introduced. I really don't want anything like that happening as it would be giving that horrible child everything she wants. I absolutely detest Faye, a rotten character badly acted.
Edit: I've a feeling that's what the writers have had in mind all along....
ReplyDeleteHope Windass is written out. Sour woman, with a thug of a boyfriend and a weird son, not taking lightly anything Gary might have seen in Afghanistan. Mind you, Izzy and Katy can be cows, too! Vile family, all-in-all.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me started on Faye. What a brat!
On a slightly different subject, got REALLY angry at Beth and Sophie last night, with their respective treatment of Hayley and Paul.
As I said on Twitter the other, Lloyd can't have it both ways. He can have a go at Paul, while referring to Brenda as fat! I don't care if it's her taxi name, it's still derogatory.
I think Anna is being consistent with her character. She is over-reacting because she beats herself up for trusting that Faye would be okay with Tim, and thinks that him off the scene will mean things are back to normal. Of course life is never that simple, but pretty normal for her to hope it is.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the way Anna and Owen got together. Similarly, I like the flirtation and sexual tension between Sally and Tim - it's realistic, and better to see the relationship develop naturally than it all happening off-screen with us suddenly being presented with a readymade couple and expected to suspend disbelief as to their compatibility (a la Sophie and Jenna)
I've said it before and I'll say it again - the whole Windass/Armstrong brood can all slither off into the sunset as far as I'm concerned (bar Faye, who I quite like).
ReplyDeleteAnna is just gruesome and Owen is a hideous bully. Quite where he thinks he gets off, ordering a child's father out of town is anyone's guess.
Grizzy are the least convincing couple since Dev and Deirdre and I'd only be happy for Katie to stick around if she got back with Chezza.
I would rather have the Prices than this bunch!
Why can't Owen and Anna have Faye during the week and Tim have her at weekends. Surely that's the more obvious solution?
ReplyDeleteJoseph what you said makes perfect sense so of course that will never happen. Where the hell does Anna get off telling Tim to leave town. Tim should go to social services and get proper, legal custody. Fat Poofta, I also agree with you I wouldn't miss the entire Windass gang including Faye who I can't stand.
ReplyDeleteTim's character drifted for too long. Viewers didn't know if he was really Faye's dad or a paedophile. Did Tim have a violent past or a hidden agenda eg wanting free board and lodging with Anna? As it is, he's an ordinary guy trying to bond with his daughter. Fair enough, but not very interesting in the way it's been portrayed. Of course, social services should have had more input, but Anna the nauseating earth mother decided she could handle Tim. Why didn't he report Owen to the police for threatening behaviour? Don't care about any of these characters. They can all leave.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a good idea to prevent any kid from being in contact with their parent(s), unless the parents are downright toxic. I believe that Anna is only being rotten to Tim lately because she sees him as a neglectful dad, which he is.
ReplyDeleteHe ought to have arranged with her to take care of Faye in his absence, rather than leaving it to the child to ask. He hardly knows how to provide food on the table for his child.
I like Anna, if only because she is capable of loving such an ungrateful, disobedient, mendacious little turd of a girl.
I like Tim. He's an incompetent father, but most parents of preteens have 10+ years of experience that he doesn't/was denied. He's a reliable worker partnered with Jason and I like what's going on with Sally, although I do expect that one day she'll try to put him in a suit.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind FayE -- she's pouty and bratty, but that's a mild version of what I'd expect from a kid with her troubled upbringing. With what she's been through, if she started a crime spree or self-harming, it wouldn't be surprising. Fibbing and stomping around is annoying but real.
The rest of the Windass/Armstrong clan can drop off the face of the earth. Anna has reverted to form, a very unsavory cartoonish one that doesn't mesh with all her pink tat. Owen is an equally cartoonish bully who deserves to be pushed over a cliff. My wish would be Eddy reclaims his family and brings them to his new good life in Germany. Izzy goes with Gary. Owen, devastated (who cares) moves his business, Katy goes with. We only need one builder on the street, and I prefer homegrown Jason with his link to Bill Webster.
Didn't really like Tim when he arrived but I think he's a pretty good actor; comes off as a little slow but well meaning. Also, nice to see the writers are showing Anna's true bitchy colours.
ReplyDeleteI think Faye is the next Tracy, but unlike Tracy who killed one man, Faye will turn out to be a serial killer, knocking-off one husband after another. Perhaps she could seduce David sometime in her future and knock him off.
I just feel really sorry for Faye. She's been messed around far too much. Her mother neglected and abused her, then died, then her foster father disappeared and within 5 minutes Anna's shacked up with Owen. And then she's allowed to see Tim and then she's living with them and then she's back with Anna again. She won't know which way is up. Oh and as for the stuff about Tim abandoning Faye, he should have checked she was with Anna but the fact is Faye is legally Anna's child, so Anna should have been checking up on her regularly anyway. It's actually Anna who's been neglectful there.
ReplyDeleteThe harsh truth about Anna is not everyone is cut out to be an adoptive parent and she certainly isn't. But anyway, I'm less put out by that by all this horrific lack of empathy you see on the internet whenever Faye's name is mentioned, just because she's a bit gobby. It's a wonder she's not burning down houses given everything she's been through.
Yup, it does seem like Anna's got her head stuck up a pipe and her face is getting all sourpussy.. not good. She did arrive on the rough side, but time has shown us she's also quite soft and sweet.
ReplyDeleteFaye ~ Ellie Leach, is an A-One actress. I find her to be stellar in her scenes... subtle and real. She's a winner. Her character also has a sweet heart but a troubled history. Tim is just a dumb dad starting to become aware of what he's got.. hopefully. Also, good to see flirty Sally flutter - she's an inspiration to women of a certain age & It's fun watching her and Tim 'do the dance'.
Back to Anna, she should deffo put her fists away and find a new hairdo and a smile with or WITHOUT Owen. (just saying..She'd make a great single mom)

Come on people, I think you're not being fair here. In the episode where Owen discovers Faye alone, he is all kindness and calm, something that he must have really had to work at. I don't feel you are being fair to this clan, except maybe for Katy who is not such a wonderful actress. The others are all excellent.
ReplyDeleteBev
Bev, I agree, Owen was exceptional with Faye when he found her, and he then calmed down Anna.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is, when he turns around the next time, he'll be 'Evil Owen' again. It seems he's able to turn to the dark side when we least expect it- and become quite creepy.

I think Faye is going to get it into her twisted little brain that Owen is standing between Anna and Tim getting together and them being a proper family, and starts figuring out ways to do away with him..wouldn't that be awesome? Owen getting some payback..he's such a creep. Remember when he hand Jim M roughed up..ended up in hospital?
ReplyDeleteThe thing I want is for Eddie to come back and kick that Owen to the kerb. I loved Eddie. He was such a scumbag but with a very good heart. Him and Les are my favourites. :)
