The official Coronation Street website at itv.com have an interview with the wonderful Paula Lane and it's all about Kylie's efforts to avoid David's plan to have a baby. You see, Kylie has finally found stability.
She's got a new job she loves and is good at. She doesn't think it's a good time for such a big change and she doesn't think she's ready to have another babyDavid is determined and pushes Kylie into agreeing to get pregnant but in reality, she's still taking birth control pills and hiding it from him. The major fly in the ointment is Gail, who discovers the secret. She does sympathise with Kylie's reasons but insists she tell David the truth. Kylie knows David will be hurt and angry and it would put their marriage in jeopardy.
Paula thinks that if David were to give Kylie and ultimatum, Kylie could choose to lose David, hoping that she'd be calling his bluff but it remains to be seen. David is going to turn to Tina, needing a friend when things go off the rails and that's not going to sit well with Kylie one little bit!
This is typical David, isn't it? He wants what he wants when he wants it and doesn't see reason until it's too late. I really like David and Kylie as a couple. She's been the making of him but he's not all that mature yet and neither is she. Let's face it, both of them are barely out of puberty and both of them are still volatile and impulsive at heart. I do hope they don't pull this couple apart permanently. These two need to fight, break up and make up their way into old age together. They could be a classic Corrie couple in the making.

I love David and Kylie as a couple but I don't see them together very long-term. Jack Shepherd may choose to stay in Corrie but Paula Lane is going to want to move on. She's so talented that she'll be looking for other things in a few years' time. There weren't the opportunities in the early days of Corrie for young actors, eg all the tv channels and dvd etc, so they stayed with the soap. These days, the very best young actors in Corrie will go at some point.
ReplyDeleteI think they make a good couple as well. I want them to work it out somehow, but I'm sure there will be tons of obstacles that they need to get through. We'll see how it all unveils...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Humpty, but it would be nice for a relationship to last more than 12 months for once.
ReplyDeleteWhile I originally liked them as a couple, I actually see Kylie growing up and moving in a better direction while David is still the same old mummy's boy. She should definitely hook up with Nick and leave David to Tina; they can make up for lost time.
