The TV Choice awards were awarded tonight and Michelle Keegan who plays Tina McIntyre on Corrie won Best Actress. She was overwhelmed at winner and, according to TV Choice's tweet, she said she didn't think she'd win and hadn't prepared a speech!
Unfortunately, Coronation Street lost out to Eastenders for the Best Soap award and Natalie Gumede was robbed of the Best Newcomer award. (Ok, admittedly, we're not objective here at Blog Towers where Natalie is a favourite!)
Here's a photo of Michelle on the red carpet and you can see other photos from the procession here.
Congratulations go out to Michelle from us all!
There's a full list of winners at the bottom of this page.

So disappointed about Natalie losing out. She's a wonderful addition to Corrie. It takes a skillful actress to make you actively hate a character one minute and then feel for her, almost warm to her the next. It's just a shame that being a villain, like a recent blog post pointed out, means she probably won't stick around. We can't all be Tracey Barlow. Congrats to Michelle though. I don't understand how the ghastly Eastenders keeps taking the head gong...
ReplyDeleteI am sure Michelle Keegan is a lovely person - but best actress? Come on - all the woman does is shout, and fall out with everyone, wearing a constantly sour face - I suspect her good looks and "sexyness" are what is really voted for in this instance. Teeenar is not a popular character and one that probably wouldnt be missed.
