The official Coronation Street page over at ITV.com has
revealed that Wendy Crozier, Ken Barlow's ex-lover from the 1980s is set to return to the show this summer. She will return as Bessie Street Primary School is looking for a new governor and Ken finds that he and Wendy are up for the same role!
If you find yourself unfamiliar with the character, check out the page for her character over at

It will be good to see another classic character returning to the cobbles.

oh for heavens' sake. Ken is in his 70s, a pensioner, why is he going for that job in the first place? ANd Wendy Crozier??? Oh please. spare me. Cue Deirdre gurning and rasping, Ken looking like a deer caught in the headlights, and a great big tempest in a teapot for nothing.
ReplyDeleteNot loving the current stories on now in Canada,ie: Terry Duckworth,Drug dealer, Sunita and Karl.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it won't be an affair. So I think it'll be interesting. It'll give Deirdre summat to do at least.
ReplyDeleteplease not another affair, come up with something else maybe!??
ReplyDeleteIt's a voluntary position and I guess he's bored at home. Who can blame him? If it's an affair, it will a 'meeting of minds' affair - far more dangerous to Deirdre than a hop in the bed.
ReplyDeleteThis is AMAZING, AMAZING news. I've been dying for Wendy Crozier to come back for years - she's one of those legendary guest characters. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI'm quite looking forward to his too, but agree with tvor, it'll be a rehash but still, good fun. Showing life in the old dog Ken and Deirdre well, what will her reaction be if Ken drops his kecks for another woman this time? Just wish Blanche was around to give us her tuppence worth on this one.
ReplyDeleteYay...something for Ken! I love this character..Corrie wouldn't be the same without him!!
ReplyDeleteBut please, oh lord, not with a hidden love child in tow!!!
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, I think this will be a hoot.
Scott, I agree 100% This is fabulous news! I always loved the character and how Roberta Kerr played her. Can't wait to see how this pans out! Nick
ReplyDeleteoooh, this should be good! I like that Ken is still an aging Lothario and still keen to add to his kimono collection!
ReplyDeleteI am surprised he hasn't gone for school governor before, he is a perfect candidate. It's a voluntary post often held by retired teachers and it will suit ken down to the ground - at last a bit of creative in-character writing by the Corrie team, hurrah!
I'm in the 'this is a great job for Ken' camp. He's a smart man who hasn't had an intellectual challenge, save the crossword, in far too long. There's no way that someone as active and healthy as he is would do nothing but walk the dog and babysit.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this news, so long as it doesn't turn into another actual affair, which, at Ken's age, would be frankly absurd, especially after all he went through in the aftermath of his last fling with Wendy.
ReplyDeleteI love returning characters from way back - it's where Corrie has a massive advantage over its rivals and adds so much depth to the show.
Wendy Crozier will be coming into it with a 22 year old son of Ken's, plus a baby granddaughter. He will have to adjust to his new son and granddaughter as obviously Peter will be out of the picture, and he doesn't want to lose another child!
ReplyDeleteNah, she was a bit past it to be having kids even 22 years ago!
ReplyDelete"Too old"? FGS. You'd think Ken was reapplying for a teaching job going by some of the comments here!
ReplyDeleteKen becoming a school governor sounds great. It's hardly a strenuous job and he'd fit the bill, IMO.
