Sue Cleaver supports Diabetes Week 2012

Did you know that this week is diabetes week? No, me neither, but it is.  Diabetes week takes place from 10–16 June and throughout the week Diabetes UK are calling on all of their supporters to Make the Diabetes Connection. And they’d like you to get involved in Diabetes Week.

Right now, over 3.7 million people in the UK are living with diabetes, and there are a further 7 million people at high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Sue CleaverOne person who is already right behind Diabetes Week is Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver.

Sue, better known as Eileen Grimshaw said: "As someone who understands the seriousness of diabetes, I know how important it is to get this message out there and let people know that Diabetes UK is here to provide help and support along the way.

"So for Diabetes Week, I’ll be hosting my own fundraising tea party, with my friends and family and maybe some colleagues from the cobbles. In doing so I’ll be raising awareness of diabetes, and helping to raise funds to support millions of people in the UK affected by the condition. I hope you’ll join me in doing the same!"
