Soap brothers in celebrity spin-off

Soap star brothers Ryan Thomas (Corrie's Jason Grimshaw) and Adam Thomas (Adam Barton in Emmerdale) are set to go head-to-head in a celebrity cycle challenge today for charity. Ryan and Adam are heading up two celebrity teams today taking part in the first Great Manchester Cycle.

A total of 7,000 cyclists are set to take part in the UK’s biggest ever timed cycling event this Bank Holiday Monday. Spectators will be keeping a close eye on the soap hunks as they compete for the celebrity spin-off crown. Other Corrie stars include Michael Le Vell (Kevin Webster) and Chris Fountain (Tommy Duckworth) and will be joined by Doctors and Holby City actor Philip Olivier.

Ryan Thomas is taking part in his first cycle event and is raising money along with other Corrie cast members for the Alzheimer’s Society on behalf of the LNT Group.

He said: “I am really looking forward to the Great Manchester Cycle and am especially eager to pip my brother Adam to the post in the celebrity spin-off and bring home the spoils for Corrie. Good luck to all cyclists taking part.”

The event, which is also officially the UK’s biggest timed cycle event, starts at the Etihad Stadium before taking participants through the city centre, then onto MediaCity and Old Trafford, before finishing back at City’s home ground.
