Roy and Mary find common ground

The official Coronation site has a teaser for an upcoming storyline, with Hayley asking Norris to be her partner for an upcoming dance exam. Mary feels left out.

However, Roy being the kind hearted soul he is offers to keep Mary company and to play some chess, and the pair get on surprisingly well and decide to make their matches a regular occourance.

  1. Well, this would make for an interesting love triangle! Finally, something interesting coming out of a soap standard plot. :)

  2. Some more airtime for these characters is great news. Love them !

  3. Are the writers up to writing the decent, quirky dialogue for them that this pair would demand?

Or are they going to go down the predictable and well worn "jealous Hayley love triangle" route?

    Place your bets.

  4. I love Roy. I think this will be a brilliant pairing..both so quirky. I can see Norris becoming jealous of Roy.

  5. Great news - seems like Hayley hasn't had a storyline in a while. More screentime for all these characters will be good.

I like this little whimsical side stories; they make a nice change from all the gloom and adultery. :)

Hm trouble with Mary is that she is pretty spiteful and I wouldnt like to see her making Hales uncomfortable. Would they really be so matey after she tried to scupper their wedding??

  9. It would be great to see Hayley going for more and more competitions to get her own back on Roy. Mary similarly with Norris.

Very nice story line, subtle, lets not muck it up with adultry, doesn't fit Roy, but misunderstanding does fit all the characters. Good ideas and about time to give these actors some good airtime, bravo

  11. It has potential, but pleeeeez writers, don't let Roy have an affair!
That would be wayyyy out of character.

  12. It's time to start developing Mary as a 3 dimentional character, as opposed to the occasionally funny, often spiteful spouter of one-liners that she is now. I'd like to see them explore thios sad, delusional woman in more depth. Let's see her mother for a start, so we can see why she turned out the way she has.

  13. Mary, Norris, Sylvia, Roy, Hayley and Emily are my absolute favourite characters, they light up Coronation Street. I would also like to see Norris become jealous of Roy and Mary. The scenes between Norris and Mary are always very watchable and I would like to see them on screen a great deal more.
