Who are you and where are you from?
Jules from Washington, DC.
How long have you been watching Corrie?
I saw it while visiting my brother in Canada and liked it. I decided to start watching full-time which was around the time of Liam's death and eventually went back and watched a couple of years before that. As an American I don't really know anyone else who likes Corrie. My husband makes fun of me by humming the trumpet theme around the house.
Who are your favourite female and male characters - and the reasons why?
I agonised over these! I decided to limit it to current to make it easier. Female: Julie. I think Katy Cavanagh is so good at handling the broad comedy they give her in a way that is really still grounded and recognizable, and then she's just amazing in the dramatic storylines like her infertility or supporting Eileen when she owed Owen money. Male: Roy. Probably doesn't need much explaining but I especially loved his relationship with Becky (who was another huge favorite).

My favorite family is the new Brown/Windass/Armstrong clan. The actors are great, the characters are realistic and fallible enough to generate great storylines, and none of them are shrill or horrifying (Faye is growing on me).
What's been some of your favourite Corrie storylines over the years?
The Carla-Liam-Maria epic triangle and tragedy. Carla and Liam were terrific. Poor Maria never stood a chance. Mary terrorizing Norris in that country house was absolutely bananas and I kind of love the fact that they pretend that never happened. Becky with Roy and Hayley, getting together with Steve, the parts where they were happy, and then her triumphant exit. I didn't mind watching Joe McIntyre get hit in the head by a sailboat boom.

And what would your fantasy Corrie storyline be?
I keep hoping those rumors about Julie and Brian opening a greenmarket will turn out to be true. I love commerce scenes, I guess.
Have you any snippets or news about meeting any of the Corrie cast, or trips to the set, etc., that you'd like to share?
Kind of a mean question for an American, honestly :) I wish! I really hope the new studio means the old one will be open for tours. I would definitely want to make a pilgrimage.
Greetings from New Hampshire! I just hate when something happens on Corrie that you want to talk about and not only did nobody you know watch, nobody you know even knows what you're talking about.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching for quite a few years now. Those of us who live in the US should have a group on the facebook or summat.
ReplyDeleteJohn, and all, I just created a FB group, 'American Corrie Fans'. Let's make it a place for water cooler chat about our favorite soap.
ReplyDeleteI'll pretty it up on the computer tonight.
I'm a yank too! Luckily I can toss a stone across to Canada so I get the feed.
