Brooke Vincent signs up to Corrie for another year

Brooke Vincent, who plays Coronation Street's Sophie Webster, has signed a six-figure contract, keeping her in the soap for another year, says The Daily Star today.

The paper says Corrie producer Phil Collinson promised Brooke some huge storylines over the next few months, as well as giving her a pay rise.

A source close to Brooke, 20, is quoted saying she is “delighted” to have signed the new deal, adding: “Everyone loves Sophie, and Phil did all he could to make her stay. They’ve got some huge storylines planned, including a new love interest, and there’s lots more coming up for the Webster family."

If tabloid rumours are true, Sophie is going to turn into a junkie, courtesy of Ryan Connor.

Speaking of Ryan, we have a dilemma. What shall we call the new Ryan Connor here on the Coronation Street Blog?  Suggestions so far from our sofa include ReRyan, NuRyan or FakeRyan2.  What do you think?

  1. Another pal of Phil Collinson's. She's dreadful. That's all she does is whine and shout.

  2. Why should BV bother to learn to act when she can pull off a salary like that?

How about 'Rayon'? "Rayon fabrics are soft, smooth, cool, comfortable, and highly absorbent". Well, he's going to drink, isn't he?

  3. Sophie has no real purpose in the street now. There is nobody her age, and she doesn't seem to have any friends now that sian, and Rosie are gone. She just spends her time whining!

  4. If I remember correctly there have been stories about the contract renewal of Brooke Vincent, Catherine Tyldesley, Kym Marsh, Kate Ford, Samia Smith and Anthony Cotton. I wonder what these actors have in common? I’ve never seen anything about the contracts of say Helen Worth, Alison King, Barbara Knox or Simon Gregson. I wonder how the latter group differs from the former?

  5. Too bad. She is a mumbly mediocre actress who should be required to take elocution lessons.

  6. Are they going to re-cast Michelle's biological son as well? ;-)

    “Everyone loves Sophie"

Since when? I for one can't stand Sophie!

  8. I imagine the older group of actors' contracts is a given. They've got jobs as long as they want them. There would be outrage in the Commons if ITV ever sacked Barbara Knox!

I don't mind Sophie and as far as her having no purpose in the street right now, well she was involved in major storylines in the past and her character has been "resting". From the sounds of it, she'll have purpose in the near future. I hope they don't make her a junkie, Maybe just have Ryan offer it but she declines. If this happened right after Sian left, it might have been more tempting for her but i don't see it now.

  9. Sophie as a youngster was so witty and fun. Turning her into the character she is now may have provided some 'teen angst' but tends to grate a bit after a while. Can they please let her have some fun- Micky
