Coronation Street actors Alison King and Chris Gascoyne, who play Carla Connor and Peter Barlow, will be taking a four month break from Corrie this summer.
The official ITV Corrie website say that both Alison and Chris will be taking time away from filming to spend time with their families this summer. They will return towards the end of the year.
As for their on-screen characters Carla and Peter, the custody battle for little Simon hots up. Peter and Carla try to flee the country, but it's not clear if Simon will be going with them or if Leanne wins the battle to become Simon’s full time carer.
Many Corrie fans at Manchester's Victoria train station watched these scenes being filmed earlier this week when Corrie went out on location.
Please please please take that annoying little brat with you. Please.
ReplyDeletePlease, please, please keep Simon with Leanne. Please.
ReplyDeleteNever mind that- what about these hideously crass storylines at the moment - sensationalist, ridiculous and so easy to guess. Awful. Simply awful.
ReplyDeleteWonder what reason they will come up with to explain Carla and Peter's long absence from the cobbles, not like they have wads of cash to just swan off to wherever. Perhaps we'll see Ken running the Bookies and Michele running Underworld.....into the ground.
ReplyDeletesame thing going on over at EE..top characters going of on month's long breaks.
ReplyDeleteI hope Simon goes too and Leanne gets back with Nick.
So who is running Underworld in Carla's absence - the idiotic and uber vain Michelle I presume? Or does this signal the entrance of the brother who served 8 years for armed robbery.
ReplyDeletePeter has a breakdown after Leanne gets a residence order. He goes off to get treatment with Carla in tow. Leanne moves back into the bookies and runs it in Peter's absence, all hostilities now under control. Yes, maybe Carla's brother arrives to work in the factory while she's away, much like the Luke storyline. Peter and Carla return to the Street, having split up while away.
ReplyDeleteI will miss Carpet.
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit odd that they are going just when Carla's brother is turning up. I wonder how that all fits in.
Humpty, is that a guess or what you've read? Just interested so I know what to expect :D
ReplyDeleteAnna in nz: Sorry, I should have said it's a guess. I get so annoyed with the storylines sometimes I 'write' my own scripts!
ReplyDeleteHumpty - that makes more sense! I thought it all sounded too sensible of the characters to cease hostilities and go off for treatment :D
ReplyDeleteHumpty - I'm sure that you could write scripts much better than the writers seem to be doing right now.
ReplyDeleteElla
I feel that the word "explosive" should be banned by soap publicity writers.
ReplyDeleteThat's all.
Rebecca in TO.
Peter is going into rehab and I guess Carla will abandon the faktry she fought so hard to save and go along with him...leaving Simon with Leanne.
ReplyDeleteShould be interesting. I hope there's more interaction between Simon/Ken/Diedre.
Good. The pair have been overeposed and kudos to the actors if they realised that. Simon Gregson, Jane Danson, Michelles Keegan and Collins take note.
ReplyDeleteI don't want Carla AKA Alison to leave Corrie for 6 months because she is my fave character but she does deserve it
ReplyDeleteHi Humpty Dumpty: I like your idea about Leanne keeping Simon and running the bookies while peter and Carla Swan off to parts unknown. Simon doesn't like Carla so it wouldn't even make sense that he'd want to go. Heck, he called Leanne to tell her what Peter was planning.
ReplyDeleteQuestion (semi unrelated) Are the actresses who play Stella and Leanne related?
Shame Carla and Peter left. Crap without them. Leanne and Nick should've gone instead. No one would miss them.
ReplyDeleteI've really missed Carla and Peter. Corrie hasn't been the same without them but the actors did deserve a break. They've been brilliant ever since Carla and Peter's relationship began in 2010, I believe.
ReplyDeleteTheir absence has been felt in Corrie so I can't wait to see what's next for them. :)
