The cracks begin to widen in the marriage of David and Kylie
We've seen them coming over the past week or two, but now the cracks in David and Kylie's union are beginning to widen. In fact, the family dynamics in the whole Platt/ Mcintyre/ Roberts dynasty are shifting dramatically, much of the changes brought on by Audrey's heart attack.
David has been distancing himself from Kylie's comments about his gran ever since the heart attack. It does seem that the honeymoon period is over and comments from Kylie, such as tonight's 'She's an old woman. Old women have heart attacks,' can only serve to accelerate the demise, not only of the honeymoon period, but potentially the whole marriage. As Gail sets off to see Audrey, David asks his mum to say that he's sorry and he hopes she's OK. Kylie chimes in with, 'You can say the second bit from me but not the first.' Later, when dinner is ready in the McIntyre/Platt household, Kylie appears particularly upset with David for not sticking up for her and out the door she goes. What about Max? What will happen to him if David and Kylie do split? After all, he's had a confusing and bewildering couple of years in his short life, not to mention his lunch box undergoing forensic examination by his headteacher. David, to give him his due, does seem genuinely fond of Max.
Lewis is worthy of a mention tonight as he proves himself to be a challenger to Florence Nightingale. 'I shall be watching her like a hawk; night and day.' Maybe, just maybe, he is a reformed character.

Paula Lane has had her contract renewed for a year so we must assume that she doesn't disappear into the sunset with Max. She can't survive on her own so my guess is she and David will eventually reconcile. They will reach some understanding about the salon and Audrey's relationship with Lewis. Perhaps then Gail can start to have a life outside the family. I'm getting fed up of Gail, Deirdre and Sally existing only in terms of their needy relatives.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting fed up with Gail going on and on about Lewis when she is the one that was in a relationship with a man that tried to kill her and her whole family.
ReplyDeleteI keep waiting for Audrey to remind her of that fact and hopefully shut her up, unfortunatey I'm still waiting fore that to happen.
I like Kylie and its a shame that yet another marraige is to go to the dogs. What was the point of trying to get Max back anyway? Shoved from pillar to post again. I just wish Lewis would bog off, he was the catylist for the whole thing and Nigel Havers in every single scene with Audrey fauning around her is tiresome in the extreme. Anyone know when he is going?
ReplyDeleteI really like the David/Kylie relationship, it's one of those 'the whole is greater than the sum of the parts' type things. It really has the chance to develop and make something of both the characters, who have blossomed. Their relationship is a lot more interesting that Sallin/Kevvy for starters!
ReplyDeleteAnd isn't Lewis a star? I really love Nigel Havers, and the tease of whether he has really reformed or not! He's doing very well so far!!

ReplyDelete- Holy moly! Thought you were referring to David there. That'll teach me to scan and speed read.
LOL @ Danny-K
ReplyDeleteI think that Kylie has never known what it is to be a family.. (making compromises, doing things that you don't want to do for someone else..) so she doesn't understand how it works. She's a great actress, and David really is a better character with her...
