Coronation Street Weekly Update, November 21 2011

Greetings and welcome to the Coronation Street Weekly Update. Find out more about these Coronation Street Weekly Updates and why they've been written for th'internet since 1995 at http://www.corrieweeklyupdates.btinternet.co.uk

Fiz is out of pris and out on bail on the Street where Sally Webster wastes no time in telling her exactly what she thinks of her and her no-good murdering, lying, cheating, kidnapping dead husband. How quickly Sally forgets that she once had a crush on John Stape when he used to pop round to the Websters’ to teach English Lit at the kitchen table.  Fiz does her best to settle in and Sally calls an uneasy truce when she offers Fiz the sniff of a job working for Frank.

Ciaran and Michelle forge ahead with wedding plans and Michelle gives him a wad of cash to take to the hotel to put down the deposit on the wedding venue. Well, he puts the deposit down all right but not at the hotel. He loses the whole lot in a poker game in the back room of the Rovers. It’s a poker game that Kirk wins but then bails out of when the stakes get too high and that’s when Ciaran loses his cash to Karl, who spends it in the bookies where Ciaran goes the next day to ask Peter for the cash back. Peter’s not best pleased, as you can imagine, and tells Ciaran where he can stuff his wad of bills.

Julie and Brian cosy up again on the Red Rec in the hope of seeing some UFO activity in the night sky. Tommy and Tyrone are there with their DIY UFO, possibly made from MFI MDF and it does the trick in making Brian believe he’s seen the real thing. Until he realises he’s been had and then his face takes a stern turn.

Lloyd’s still crying over Cheryl and then he loses the plot when he finds out that Cheryl’s been into the house to take some of their stuff.  He rants and raves, drags a sofa outside and sets fire to it in front of all the neighbours.  Chris comes to see what the fuss and fire’s all about and Lloyd shoves him, knocking him out on the cobbles. I don’t know about you, but we cheered in our house at that point. Anyway, Chris gets taken to hospickle where he recovers and that’s when Cheryl finds out that his tumour’s receded and he’s been lying to her for weeks that he was getting worse when he was getting better just so she’d stay with him.  Cheryl went round to Lloyd’s place to tell him and there was even more crying from Lloyd. Thankfully, this storyline means that Chris, Cheryl and Russ Gray have all now left the Street - and what a waste of time they all were. There was a superb bit of dialogue as Chris left the Rovers in his final scene after everyone found out just what a cad he was.  Owen: “You’re sacked!”, Jason: “You’re fired!”, Stella: “And just for good measure, you’re barred an’ all!”

Dennis isn’t happy this week when he finds out that Norris has given an interview to the Gazette telling them all about him.  It all comes about when the couple who were running the charity soup kitchen are up in court for fraud and of course Nozza goes along for a day out to gloat. That’s when he meets the hack who puts Dennis’ Rags to Rita’s story on the front page of the Gazette much to Dennis’ horror.  He’s even more perturbed when a blast from his past, a woman called Norma reads the story and comes looking for him.

And finally this week, Nick takes an enormous cleavage with Eva behind it out on a date. Ooh, Gail won’t be best pleased when she finds out about this.

And that's just about that for this week..

This week's writers were Damon Rochefort, Chris Fewtrell, Jayne Hollinson and John Kerr.  Find out more about the Coronation Street writing team at:
