After They Were Famous

It's always nice to see Corrie alumni turning up on our screens.  It's sad when they turn up in ads, though. Somehow that feels like a let-down.

Tom Kerrigan was in the show for a year, being Liam's wayward cousin, getting kissed by Sean, and then trying it on with his dead cousin's widow.  He was a nice, reliable character, and it was a shame when Philip Kerrigan's contract wasn't renewed.

It's sad to see him now turn up in the Barclays advert.

Worse, the YouTube listing doesn't mention him at all.  It does name the dog though.

Any more Corrie stars in ads we should know about?

  2. I remember seeing Alison King in a Daz advert and also Julie Goodyear, Sue Jenkins along with Dean Gaffney ("Robbie" from Eastenders) appeared in a Daz advert as well.

  3. Martin Platt in Cleaner Close. I never rated him much when he was in Corrie but he went up in my estimation when he refused to do an under-age story line, and was sacked. He's got a cheese business now, but obviously doing ads brings in extra dough! I'm not sure it's sad to see them in ads. It's all about getting exposure and some casting director may like Philip McGinley's face. I think, also, he's done some theatre so not being seen on TV doesn't necessarily mean he's out of work.

  4. Georgia may-foote did an advert about abusive young boyfriends recently. Thats when i realised she is actually quite a good actor

  5. Pretty cool ad though, even if it is for bonds. At least Brit ads are relatively well done and funny, compared to annoying, non-creative and unfunny Canadian & US ones.
