Jeremy Sheffield joins Corrie

A new love interest has been cast for Becky McDonald as she prepares to make her exit from the Corrie cobbles.

Jeremy Sheffield, of Holby City and Dancing on Ice fame, will be playing Danny Stratton, who pops up on the Street later this year.

Producer Phil Collinson, said: "I'm delighted to be welcoming Jeremy to the cast. Danny will be integral to the unmissable final chapter of the Steve/Becky/Tracy love triangle. It's thrilling that such a key character will be in the hands of such a fine actor."

Becky will be leaving Corrie in early 2012, so perhaps a happy ending with Danny is on the cards for her after all?

  2. Oooh.. I do hope that Steve is green with envy. He's not the king of sensitivity, but getting together with tracy about 10 seconds about splitting up wtih Becky, when he knows that Tracy will be rubbing it in Becky's face, is really rude.

And yes.. I'm aware that Becky wasn't a model wife.
Oh, and that it's a soap opera ;)

  3. Wouldn't it be lovely if Danny had super-duper swimmers and Becky became pregnant....I'd love to see her blissfully happy when she leaves. After those vile and taunting comments Tracy threw at Becky when she told her she was pregnant with twins and that Steve and her were together, I'd love to see Becky wipe the smile off that smirking face with her pregnancy news.

  4. That would be lovely ChiaGwen; and, it being the Land of Soap, it could happen.
I still believe that Steve loves Becky, and I'm sure news like that would cause some poignant moments, thoughts of 'what might have been'.

  5. IMO I'm wondering why no one asked for a DNA test on Amy seeing as how Tracy would jump anything...also, she was boinking Frank at the same time as Steve and who knows who else "Steve...You are not the father"!

  6. Isn't the issue with Becky's womb, rather than Steve's swimmers though? I understand the desire for a happy ending but surely the issue with Becky is that she desperately wants to be a mum, but never can.

  8. Who knows - maybe this guy is a single father with little 'uns for Becks to mother. That would be happy ending enough in her book, I reckon.

I hope Becky will disappear into the sunset with this bloke and be happy, the worst thing the powers that be did was to couple her with Steve, the most unlikely and non rapport couple on Corrie ever I think! That and the stupid Maxay and looting story just ruined her plus the excessive screen time that the idiots gave her.

  10. I agree with Cobblestone. I hope Becky finds love and the family she needs to be a part of. She can then leave with dignity.

  11. As jeremy is an openly gay actor I wonder if this will have anything to do with the storyline..like becky finds love...catches him in bed with sean or marcus...becky hits an all time low and leaves the street for good..

  12. barriet - I'm also an openly gay actor, but I'm usually cast in straight roles. It's called Acting. Ian McKellen didn't play Gandalf or Magneto gay! ;)
