Are You Warming To Tracy - Yay Or Nay

Last week, we asked you "Carla/Frank Marriage - Yay Or Nay" and the result was an unsurprising Nay, with reader David Blue putting it aptly Nay, no not ever, never... For God's sake give the woman a strong, loving, non-psychotic love interest! and I have to agree.

This week, we ask "Are You Warming To Tracy?"

Poor Tracy - the whole world seems to be against her and now she's pregnant. But lets rewind back to December 2010, where Tracy made a high profile return to the start in "the most exciting comeback in 1000 years." Yeah right. And since then, nobody seems to like her

But then it all changed. Tracy gets knocked on the head by other than Claire, and Tracy leaves hospital with a personality transplant. Not a big one, but I seem to like her suddenly?

She seems to have completely re-invented herself, and I love it. What is it about Corrie that makes me fall in love with characters that I originally hated?

So I am saying YAY, obviously. I love her, one of my favourite characters at the moment. And it seems like we have more scenes on the way, with her pregnancy.

So, what are you voting? YAY or NAY?

  1. NOPE! I've always hated the conniving, devious bitch.

    And the acting is atrocious.

  2. NAY NAY NAY

What re-invented herself? She kidnapped Amy from her father (they had a custody agreement). She was horrible to James (turns out he deserved it, but nobody knew that yet). She lives to twist the knife into Becky. She's the same cold, selfish, manipulative, friendless, shallow leech she's always been. Few skills, no passions. Carla cares about her company and employs people. Eva holds a job and made a friend in Kylie. What has Tracy ever done to redeem herself?

  3. If Corrie's trying to reinvent Tracy, it's only because they realise 2-dimensional characters are rejected by viewers. Therefore, finding a plausible reason why she's changed within the storyline is impossible. I don't care about Tracy staying or leaving,so that's not particularly good acting.

A thought has just occured to me. Is Seanie writing with tongue firmly in cheek?

  4. I still want the ghosts of Tracy's past to come back and haunt her. She can't get away with murder...it's just not on. I'd like to see a showdown with her and Dreary though. Is there some point that Deidre's character is finally going to blow her stack and smack that no good daughter of hers in the chops? Maybe the doormat Ken will jump in with a few well placed kicks of his own!!

  5. Ditch the bitch. She has no redeeming values AT ALL!

  6. NEVER! I honestly cannot stand that horrible, one-dimensional wrecking ball that is Tracey.

I would love Charlie to come back and finish her off. It sounds far-fetched but who actually saw him die? He could have paid off the nurses/doctors to help fake his death or something that conniving, he is that sort of person. Or at least Becky, someone do it please!

It is annoying watching Deidre and Ken constantly defend their murderer of a daughter. The same old schtick coming out of the Barlow household at the moment and it is tired and boring.

  7. I think the only reason you like her since "Claire attacked her" is not because of a personality transplant on Tracey's part, but human sympathy for someone who has been through a perceived ordeal. I give it a few months for it to wear off lol

  8. Nay. Ridiculous question. Her own "father", Ken, just summed up the character's awful personality and you could almost hear a nation cheer. She is not remotely likeable. And the smirking actress who plays her hasn't got the skills to give the character any more depth than a postage stamp.

  9. This is another disappointing storyline that is, IMO, unsuitable for Corrie, which is an entertainment show. Tracy is a murderer -- how is this entertainment?

Nay, nay, nay. Drop the story, character and actress.

NAY NAY NAY, the only way Tracy could redeem herself if Kate Ford was re-cast, she is a terrible actress. Dont forget the nasty way she treated EVERYBODY including sneering at dead Ashley when she came back. Vile and would only be missed in a nice way if she were gone for good to "London" yet again.

  11. I'm sure Kate Ford's a lovely person, but they should have recast the part as they did when Tracy returned in 2002. Someone of Alison King's acting ability could have made Tracy into a great Queen Bitch.

    need I say more !!!

  13. I seem to be alone here, but yay! I hated her at Christmas but she changed alot. But can I say nay to the storyline, it a bit unrealistic, and I'm get Deja vu

  14. Anon above is correct - she was written woefully at Christmas, and her entrance was embarrassing, but the gods are thankfully making her one of my favourite characters again.

Steve and Tracy's biggest supporter is right here! Those two could be the best Rovers couple in two decades.

(I hated the murder storyline, by the way - it was one of the most pathetic storylines in the show's history, done purely for viewing figures and sensational headlines. I stopped watching for a year or two after that.)

  15. What;s happened to Korrie Karma - the unwritten law that someone eventually always pays for the bad things they have done. Getting out of prison on a technicality for a murder charge is like it never happened. No-one ever mentions it, and Tracy thinks she can just swan off and get a job with a prison record, no probs?

The whole storyline is a disgrace, from the aforementioned murder charge disappearing into thin air, Steve's award of custody over Amy seemingly counting for nothing, and an 'actress' who can't act her way out of a paper bag.

It's another example of the shameful exploitation of viewers' loyalty.

  16. PS - oops, sorry, that's a 'Nay' then!

  17. I've always LOVED Tracy, right from the beginning and I was heartbroken when she was arrested for the murder of Stubbs, it meant we wouldn't be seeing her for at least a while. I think she's deliciously evil. There are loads of times I wish I could have been more like her, exacting revenge on people (whether they deserved it REALLy or not). Wish I had her confidence. She's wonderful! Now, it's her PARENTS that I find thick and offensive: how many times can tracyluv offend them before they give up on her? REALLy!

  18. Yay. She's at her best at the moment. Awful when she returned in 2010 but especially after last night I have warmed to her. Despite the hard exterior inside she's still vulnerable. The scene with her and Steve was beautiful last night.

  19. Nay! I loathe the character and the actress is crap. I am also quite irritated that they are glossing over the fact that she killed someone in cold blood. Agree with the poster above that the golden rule of soap karma is being ignored.

  20. Nay! Bringing back the character was a huge mistake and re-employing Kate Ford an even bigger one.

Once upon a time abortions were presented as difficult decisions. Now, Tracy decides to get rid, because she's a bit ticked off with Steve, so we can have the dramatic father's dash to the clinic. Didn't we have this less than two months ago with Chesney?

I don't care if Tracy has one baby, two or an alien from the planet Tharg. She's not credible as a character, intensely irritating and involved in repetative storylines that are deadly dull. Corrie would be far better off if they sent her back to prison.

  21. Nay. Appalling character - makes me switch off, and her scenes with Steve are beginning to put me off HIM - one of my all-time faves. Why on earth they brought the character back in such a big way is beyond me.

  23. NAY!....I think I'm more irritated by Ken and Diedrie's acceptance of the way she speaks to them and agree with one of the Anonymous who said Diedrie needs to give her a slap with Ken throwing in a few kicks....LOL! Steve is almost deserving of the situation with Tracy.....he has become stupid beyond words. Too bad the character of Tracy hadn't been played by Paula Lane.

  24. Hell NO x 2. Get rid of her. I change the channel when she is on screen. Terrible actress and the character is awful. Can't even watch her or any storyline around her.

  25. Nay nay ,no, never. No redeeming qualities and tedious storylines. All she has ever done is inherit a kidney because of ( I think) drug abuse, murder Charlie Stubbs, and get pregnant by Steve McDonald.

She's unlikeable and unwatchable as a character and as an actress. Almost as bad as,( but not quite), Stella/Michelle Collins)

  26. To quote Abbyk "She's the same cold, selfish, manipulative, friendless, shallow leech she's always been"

That applies to Carla too. The programme doesn't need two of them.
Get rid of one, ideally both.

  27. I hate Tracy! I wish they would have an episode where she gets her commeupance from everybody on the Street; actually make that 5 episodes!

  29. Nay. Never liked Tracy since she's been played by Kate Ford. She is a horrible character.
