Sue Cleaver collapses on Corrie set

Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw on Coronation Street, was rushed to hospital from the Corrie set yesterday, says The Sun. The actress suffered an attack relating to her diabetes and medics, who were alerted, sent her to hospital for further checks.

An set insider said: "Sue was looking pretty off at around 9am just as we were getting things ready for filming. Then all of a sudden she just seemed to collapse and everyone was panicking. The on-site medics were called and they were very quick to get to her. She informed them that she was having some kind of attack brought on by her diabetes and they agreed that that's what it looked like. An ambulance was called and she was taken to hospital just to be on the safe side."

Hope you're feeling better soon, Sue, with best wishes from us all here at the Coronation Street Blog.

  1. Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver is "fine" and back at work after being taken to hospital yesterday, her co-star Antony Cotton has revealed.

Cleaver, who plays factory worker Eileen Grimshaw on the show, reportedly collapsed at work on Tuesday as she suffered an attack relating to her diabetes.

The 46-year-old was examined by medics on set before being sent to hospital for checks, according to The Sun.

A Coronation Street source told the newspaper: "The on-site medics were called and they were very quick to get to her. She informed them that she was having some kind of attack brought on by her diabetes and they agreed that that's what it looked like.

"An ambulance was called and she was taken to hospital just to be on the safe side."

Writing on Twitter this morning, Cotton - better known as Weatherfield's Sean Tully - commented: "Just so you know - Sue Cleaver is fine now. She is stood next to me on The Street and she is as sparkling and fabulous as ever."

Coronation Street bosses apparently altered yesterday's filming schedule as a result of the incident as Cleaver had been due to film scenes as Eileen.

Eileen will find love on screen in the coming weeks as she embarks on a relationship with Weatherfield firefighter Paul, played by former Hollyoaks actor Tony Hirst.
