This just in from the official ITV Corrie website.
Frank Foster's parents - Anne and Johnny Foster - are set to arrive in Coronation Street. Their first appearance is on the 5th September when they arrive for Frank and Carla's engagement party at the Bistro.
Anne will be played by Gwen Taylor, fondly remembered from appearing in the classic ITV comedy Duty Free, and more recently as dishonest Peggy Armstrong in Heartbeat. Joining her as Johnny is Paul Clayton - who previously appeared in Corrie as Mal Quillan in 2005. Paul is well known for a number of television roles and, as Mr Bartle, met a nasty end at the hands of the Ood in Doctor Who.
Funnily enough Paul Clayton shares his name with the former Corrie character, Jack and Vera's grandson.

Every time I see her I'm going to shout Aimmeee!
I don't normally like to see well known actors enter the street, but in Gwen Taylor's case I'll make an exception as she can definitely play the kind of strong Northern characters that do so well in the Street. It's just a pity, since she is prepared to be in the programme that they couldn't have brought her in as the new Rover's landlady - she could have well been another Annie Walker in the making. And I somehow doubt they'd make the mother of a rapist the new landlady.
ReplyDeleteI don't know either actor well so it won't matter to me.
ReplyDeleteShe reminds me of the late Poison Ivy Tilsley! xxx
