The arrival of Tyrone’s new girlfriend Kirsty has been officially announced today. There's a picture gallery here.Kirsty Soames, played by actress Natalie Gumede, will arrive onscreen as a police officer later this year.
Phil Collinson announced the character of Kirsty on This Morning earlier this year. She'll be starting up a relationship with the unlucky-in-love Mr Dobbs, but Phil said it won't be an easy ride with all he's been through in the past year.
Speaking about her new role, Natalie said: “From the moment I read the script I knew I was going to love playing Kirsty and I can't wait to see how the story unfolds. This is a dream role for me and I'm looking forward to creating a huge storm in Weatherfield.”
I, for one, am excited to see the introduction of this character – our poor Tyrone deserves some happiness after the year he's had! Am I the only one thinking she’s the spit of the departing Cheryl, too?
