Corrie on abroad

I've just come back from my summer hols. Wandering through the likes of Greece, Turkey & Montenegro, it was perhaps unsurprising that I didn't come across any Corrie-related merchandise. Last year in Seattle, I did find a Street DVD in  a store which surprised me, given that (to my knowledge), Corrie doesn't figure on even the most obscure cable channel.

Has anyone else ever discovered Corrie gold in foreign climes? And no - Canada doesn't count! There are plenty of rich pickings to be had for Street fans over there - always a joy for us Brits who want a little reminder of home.

  1. In the US states by the Canadian border, many can receive CBC broadcasts so can watch Corrie. I knew a few Corrie fans from the Seattle area over the years.

  3. In Jordan, in the capital city of Amman, about 20 miles from the shores of the Dead Sea, there is an English-style pub called The Rovers Return. Whenever I chatted online to a friend of mine over there, he'd often mention he was "off to the Rovers" for the evening. I was sceptical, until I visited and he took me there. Owned by an Arab guy who used to live in Manchester, you enter The rovers Return (Amman) from the car-park, passing down a corridor lined with framed portraits of the classic characters - Ken, Elsie, Annie, Ena, Hilda &c. I was just so enchanted by the place.

There are more Corrie fans in the States than one would think considering the great difficulty and EXPENSE we have in getting it here. It used to be on the 'USA Channel' back in the early 80s. I don't know why they couldn't get it on BBC America which shows programmes from Channel 4 and other sources all the time, including American sources..it has adverts, so it is not like the regular beeb.

  7. Link to a pic of my car's license plate (you might need a Facebook account to open it):

  8. I became addicted to Corrie while living in Cosmopolis, Washington. We get it thru ComCast Cable on CBC from Canada. Now my sister tapes it and mails it down to me here in Humboldt County, California..
