Big news for Canadian Corrie fans

I couldn't be grinning any harder than this at the moment! There's big, BIG news for Canadian Coronation Street fans who have been griping for years about the CBC being so far behind the UK broadcasts - 10 months behind as of the current week!

According to CBC's newly announced fall schedule, they will be showing 1 hour of Corrie every weeknight in an effort to catch up. There is no word yet on how this affects the Sunday omnibus and no word to say how long the double episodes will be airing but this is very good news, thank you CBC.

Check  your schedules closer to September for details in  your area and we'll blog it here, too, when we know more.

By the way, this will probably put the 50th anniversary week shows forward from the very end of September to about the middle of the month on Canadian screens.

  2. Woohoo I can't wait to see the Tram Crash in HD on a bigger screen. I'm grateful to those who upload to youtube but it will be nice to see things a little clearer.

  4. Let's just hope they don't do as they did once before and cut out a big chunk of episodes to catch us up faster. We ended up missing Bet and Alec's wedding among other story lines. I'd much rather be behind than missing a lot.

  6. THey won't skip anything. They did this for us the summer they were on strike, and we caught up a couple of months' worth in two summer months. It was great! I don't know for how long, or how far we'll get caught up but any amount is good!

  7. They did that in Australia for about a year, it was great. Now we're only a few months behind (we're just seeing the visa eps now)

  9. About freaking time! I'm tired of having to download the episodes! LOL, I was watching Corrie on CBC last week and kept thinking. Oh, she's dead now, so's he... she's left town, so has she, etc.....

  10. ... if this article is anything to go by ... it looks as though, in the fall, CBC will be airing two eppies of r'beloved Corrie from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. [Mondays through Fridays].

... wonder if this has anything to do with the massive response/boost in ratings that Vision TV is enjoying at the moment ... in bringing back EastEnders and Emmerdale to Canadian audiences [Mondays through Fridays]?
... which, I hasten to add, has been an absolute delight ... but I digress ...the Vision TV timeslot for these programmes has recently been changed to airing them at 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 respectively from the initial 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. timeslots.
... did that factor into CBC's decision, I wonder?
... either way ... colour me happy!

  12. That is good news. Then we'll be finished with the whole mad Stape story sooner rather than later. I was not looking forward to his loony self for the next almost-year.

  13. Faith-Anne... I was quite irritated when Vision switched their "Power Hour" of British soaps to 6-7. I'm not always home from work by then... so rarely catch it now..
