I can't quite see the point of him being brought back, except to up the 'beefcake' quotient somewhat. I don't know whether Tyrone will end up leaving with him to Cambodia or Malaysia or, indeed, Thailand, where they can definitely avoid kids on their gap years. But Tommy is definitely doing a good job of tempting Tyrone, bigging up his time as a mixologist in Sydney and the sunshine and the sand under his feet, and so on. Tyrone is good at being his own Paranoia, and I'm worried that he's too annoyed at Weatherfield to stay, especially if the entire street turns and blames him for what's just happened to Kevin.
That for me would be a huge shame, because I think Tyrone is one of the most normal people on the Street. He wants a quiet life, a wife, a kid, somewhere to work, a few bevvies of an evening... We can all relate to that in one way or another. We need Tyrone to keep some normality, and I think he could in due time turn into an oldie that we all love, like Ken or Emily or Rita. Don't go with Tommy, Ty, he's not worth it.
*watched this episode of Red Dwarf on my boxset last night* LOL
ReplyDeleteI dislike Tommy Duckworth as a character- there's an irritating quality about him which I can't quite put my finger on. However I like Tyrone, and it would indeed be very sad if he were to leave Weatherfield when you take into consideration what a fabulous and humble character he is.
ReplyDeleteI don't like Tommy much; he can't act very well and he shaves his chest. However, the street needs a love 'em and leave 'em character to seduce the ladies (jason having turned into a serial monogamist). Presumably he'll be all over Tina once Grahame has gone.
ReplyDeleteI miss Tyrone and Kirk as friends. They were a great pairing who've been pushed to one side.
Tommy is the most annoying character on the street and ever since he has appeared, I dislike Tyrone as well. And isn't Tommy supposed to be 18? Then why is Tyrone hanging onto his every word?
ReplyDeleteI like Tommy and we need some eye candy for the ladies. Annoying characters are - Dev - what was the point of his random appearance yesteday carrying cans of pop?
ReplyDeleteHowever, I dont care one way or the other about Tyrrone, its not credible that he would carry on the the garage working with Kevin after what happened with Molly. Tyrone reminds me a bit of Ray Winstone, dont know if anyone else can see it.
'Beefcake' quotient? He's pretty flabby for his age, he's balding and he has bad teeth. I don't know why they insist on having him take his clothes off at every opportunity.
ReplyDeleteTommy Duckworth is very disappointing as a character. He needs far more depth than just acting like a dog on heat and parading in his boxers every now and again.
ReplyDeleteHaha, dog on heat, spot on!
ReplyDeleteThey've indroduced and established him as a jack-the-lad type, so now it's time to start developing some depth. Is it not likely he would want to talk to local residents who knew his mother and ask them for their memories of her? She died, after all, a few feet from the front door he's living behind. They brought him in because they wanted to preserve the name Duckworth, so let's see him embedded in that tradition. So far he could have been any old chancer blown in by the wind.
ReplyDeleteThe Tommy character is growing on me. The links with Jack and Vera have indeed been weak but his character is consistent and fairly playful.
